Best prime rib around. My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary at Sam's. The meal was excellent. We both had prime rib, and we both definitely consider it to be the best prime rib around. The salads and baked potatoes were great, as well. It's really nice to go into a restaurant and not have screaming children running all over the place. We had a reservation, and were promptly seated upon arrival. I don't think I would try just walking in off the street. You might have a wait if you do. Take the extra few minutes it takes to make a reservation. The is one of the best places to celebrate special occasions, and is very romantic. WE LOVE IT!!
NOT EVEN WORTH IT.
Outrageous prices for below-par food. Service was minimal. No one should go to this restaurant to get ripped off. I would've had a better meal at Outback!!! and for 1/3 of the price.
Dress code? there is none, I could've worn sweats and been right in style with other diners.
Way too much wait time between finishing our salads and the main course - probably about 15-20 minutes. Then had to send back the steak and wait another 12-15 minutes. It was terrible-the steak and the wait.
Had to request items twice - bread, ice, etc.
The change of ownership at Sam's really shows.
Very Good. We ate in the Bar area - great service - great food - great night!!! It's hard to find that these days!!
Fantastic. We dined at Sam's for the first time and everything was perfect. We were seated upon arrival and our server arrived at the table within minutes. We had the shrimp appitizer; it was great. I had the pepper filet for my entree and it was the best ever. For dessert we shared the Strawberry Shortcake for two also, wonderful. I suggest this steakhouse to everyone I talk to.
Left a Bad Taste. At $30 a pop for entrees, I should not have had the miserable experience I had at Sam's. To start, the room was freezing. Our entrees did not arrive for an hour after we ordered them. When we questioned the waitress about the length of time, she suggested that my wife's order of a medium-well steak could have been the cause. When her 6 oz. (!) steak finally arrived, it was medium rare and had to be sent back. I asked to speak to the manager, but he never bothered coming to the table. Incomprehensibly, the room was full when we left. And to top it off, Sam's obligatory steak sauce is bad (far too salty), and the twice baked potato was dry and lacking substance. The appetizers were ordinary, as were the salads. I do not expect perfection for a $30 entree, but this wasn't even close to mediocre.
Jim & Joanie Hack. I work overseas and when ever I'm home Sam's is ALWAYs one of the place that we go out to eat. With out a doubt one one of the best in St. Louis. We also take Special folks Business, family and friends there. Simply OUTSTANDING from A_Z. Special treat at Xmas time. Jim & Joanie
The whole package.
Great food and great atmosphere. Sams is my 12 year old son and 14 year old daughters favorite restaurant. They really do enjoy good food. It is a little pricey so we do not get to enjoy it to often.
I cant believe no one said anything about the fried artichoke apitizer, a must try!
GREAT FOOD AND SERVICE, TOO!. Sam's Steakhouse definitely has one of the best prime ribs I have ever eaten. The food is a little pricey, but I guess it is like the old saying, "you get what you pay for". It is a great place to go for special occasions and a romantic place, too. I enjoy going there away from all the loud noise at a lot of other restuarants. The service is excellent, as well.
Sams is going down. I used to love Sam's Steakhouse and looked forward to going there but that changed about almost 8 months ago. The food quality has gone down although the service is still excellent. It sems that when the dress code started to alalow shorts and sandals the food quality and atmosphere went with it. It's a shame as I took many clients, family and friends there but now its on my short list. The last visit was in February and I left in disgust and disappointment. Fatty meats and once fantastic baked potatoes were stale, cold and hard, salds that were merely lettuce and watered down drinks. Hopefully Sam's will get the hint and return to the excellence and style that it ONCE had, stop the casual, lack and return to the elegance and I will return too!
Drove 250 miles for this steak. Stumbled in by accident and my son and I had the best steak and prime rib of our lives. A few months later we drove from Topeka back to St. Louis just to eat there again. Wonderful ambience, salad, appetizers - even the baked potato was spectacular. Professional waiters. Price was in line with the product. You will not be disappointed. The steak marinade is very special, made the prime rib the best ever. Don't miss it.
