I phoned the store to ask if they had a thermal cutoff for a Whirlpool dryer in stock. I was told that I needed the model and serial number AND the part in hand to determine if it was in stock. I told the guy that I had the model number and serial number in hand as well as the part. "Sorry, I need to see it". So, I drove 6 miles to the store, entered the store with the serial number, model number and part in hand. The owner/clerk or whatever took one look and said, "we don't stock that, do you want me to order it?" I was livid because surely the guy could have easily told me that over the phone. Instead, I called Nollau Appliance in Fenton who told me over the phone that the had the part I needed in stock. I arrived at the store and left with the part in about 5 minutes. I will NEVER go back to Crestwood Appliance again. NEVER.
glad I formed my own opinion – After reading the other reviews, I was very reluctant to go to Crestwood Appliance. Once there however, I discovered that while the owner is an old guy kind of set in his ways, he was actually very helpful. Although he did not carry what I needed (shocking, given the eclectic and large inventory), he actually called another place, talked to them, got the price for me, wrote down the address and phone number and before he sent me on my way, he gave me a free scrubbie! Think this just may be a case of catching him on the right day!
DEFINITELY the rudest man in the USA! – I called to ask about the store hours. He snapped at me and said I close at 5pm SHARP. That should have been enough of a sign that this place was a terrible store. But, I went there anyway. I need a replacement tray to put under my refrigerator - to catch the water that drips. My old tray is broke. I didn't know if they could help me - but I thought I would try.
It was 4:50pm and he was locking the door as I got out of my car. He didn't want to help me. As I walked toward the door, he said, "I am locking up and leaving".
I asked if he had a website or how I could find out if he sells this tray that I need. He said that I need to have the brand, model number, and serial number - and then he would have to make a telephone call to seel if he could order it for me.
My thought was "hell with him" - I could make that telephone call myself.
I have a small service dog with me at all times. As I walked back to my car with my service dog, I unleashed him and told him to go "potty".
Then, the crabby old man came out of the store and started yelling at me and saying that my dog cannot pee or poop on the grass. I informed him that he needs to consult an attorney about the federal laws regarding service animals. Then, I politely told him that my service dog can pee or poop wherever and whenever he chooses to do so and that I would be more than willing to let the Justice Department know that he is in violation of the law. Then, he replied, - if he poops - you cannot leave it there. My response was, "When did I say that I would leave his poop there?" Then, I pulled three poop bags out of my pocket and showed him that this is how I properly dispose of his waste. Then, he shut up and went inside. He was still muttering something - but not loud enough so that I could hear him.
I wish I had read these reviews before considering this store. Don't waste your time. He doesn't want to help you and he wants to start an argument over ANYTHING.
The rudest man in the USA? – I just wanted to know if this company repaired pressure cookers, or if they only did bigger appliances.
So I called them and I got as far as "I have a pressure cooker and" and I was interrupted with "what brand is it?". I then said "I'm not sure but I just wanted to know if you repair........" and was interrupted again with "I can't answer any questions until you tell me what brand". So I started again with "can you tell me if....." But could not finish the sentence because he talked over me and again said "I can't say anything until I know the brand".
I think this was the rudest man I have spoken to in the USA - he would not even listen to my question - he just talked over me and would not let me talk.
Unbelievable rude service! – I read the other bad reviews, but thought I woud still give it a try because it's close. Called off and on for over two hours during business hours before someone finally answered the phone. When I finally got someone, they were so sarcastic and rude I couldn't believe it. They wouldn't even answer general questions about what they carried until I drove there and came in. The man kept interrupting me and talking over me when I talked. VERY RUDE!!! I will never go there.
RUDE AND NASTY, Find another place to do business with – I operate a retail business, in a very competitive luxury industry. I hate having to write a review like this about a fellow business operator. I have been repairing appliances since I was 9 years old, yes a fact. I have been buying parts for washers, dryers, and other appliances that long.
Anyway, I was asked as a favor to swing by this place to pick up a part for a commercial coffee maker, it was implied that they called them and the part was there waiting. When I got there, I simply and calmly asked the guy at the counter if they had a part for a coffee maker for xxxx center. He said what kind of part, I said for a coffee maker, he said what brand, what kind of part. I said I did not know, I assumed they had called to have the part set aside.
He just kept yellng how stupid I was, I kept trying to explain to him that I was sorry, and I would call to find out what I was picking up.
I called the guy at xxx center to find out what I was picking up for them, meanwhile the owner of the repair shop kept yelling at me about how stupid I was not knowing what I was getting . . .while I was on the phone. I simply said I was sorry, but tried to motion to him I was trying to hear what they wanted picked up. When I told him, I guess it clicked that he did talk to someone and put the part on the counter.
I asked if he had two, so they could have a spare, he did not. He told me the price of around $8.50, I put a $10 dollar bill down and started to walk out. He yelled, don't you want your change, I said he needed the change more than I did.
He yelled back at me, don't remember exactly what he said, but told him (without raising my voice) he was one of the rudist guys I have ever bought anything from and could not belive he was making such a simple transaction so unpleasant. I also told him that I operated a retail business and would never have him work for me, he replied he would never work for me because I was stupid. I asked him if he owned the place, he siad he did . . .. I said wow. I again said that I could not believe how this simple transaction was going. Then he dropped the "F" bomb, yes the "F" bomb to a customer. I never raised my voice, never cursed at him, just told him he was rude. He yelled at me the whole time.
I would rather throw away any appliace than patronize this guy. I am still in shock that this happened in a retail environment, especfially with the current economic climate.
I even called him back a little later to give him the chance to apologize . . . no way. I have a very diverse backgorund, and have dealt with all sorts, but I will say that this guy, in one visit made my top 10 of rude, nasty people to do business with.
Seems like a great shop that I would have loved to see what they have, and could have probably done a good deal of business with him (See above) . . . but you know, life is tuff enough, why deal with people like him . . . . there are plenty of other places that would love to have the business . . .big or small.
Looking at other reviews all over the net, my experience seems to be the norm with this guy. He hates dealing with people, so we should help him out by not allowing him to talk to customers - don't go there!!
I am shocked he can be in business, and even more shocked at the five star ratings.
I would rather throw away anything than do ANY business with this place.
Horrible – I never write reviews but felt so strongly that I had to write. The owner looked like an 80's throwback and treated his customers like garbage. It took all I had just to say I was taking my money elsewhere. This guy needs to realize that his customer service needs an update just like his mullet. I will never be back to this place.
Great People – I have known the owners all my life. Excellent people strait and to the point. You need a part that no one else has Call Crestwood Appliance 9 times out of 10 they will have it.
Straight Shooters - Expert Craftsmen – The experience at Crestwood Appliance to some I am sure can be frustrating as they don't mix words regarding your situation. This, in my opinion, comes from the desire of trying to create execellent customer service RESULTS - sometimes not always excellent delivery of the news. If you want a top notch professional to assess your problem you have gone to the right place with Crestwood Appliance Repair. A quick assessment of my espresso maker gave me a $10 answer that WORKED and the advice that a repair would probalby be to costly for an 11 year old machine. Both Steve and his Father were to the point, yes, but also RIGHT. Which do you want - I have a feeling that the small talk will never come here but they are very busy and deliver good results!
Awful Service and Worse Customer Service – The lady I clean for paid $800 for a Perfect vacuum cleaner that was junk. Brought it in after using it once. They were rude (the owners son) talked to you like you were stupid. Anyway, every week, it didn't run when I came to clean, brought it up there and they never fixed it, refused to refund her monies. Am going through the manufacturer right now to get something accomplished. I suggest you don't use them for anything. One week, they taped the electric connection with electrical tape and sent it home --a $800 vacuum.
