Me and four other guys I work with go to patron Rizzos at least 2-3 times a month for lunch. Things have always been pretty good, but today all of that changed forever.
The food was good we were talking joking around having a good time. One of the guys who was with us went to take a drink out of his soda, and noticed a huge lipstick mark on his glass. He made the waitress aware of the issue and all she had to say was, "oh gross."
We then sat there waiting for her to come back with a solution for the issue, but instead we were given the totals on how much we owed for lunch. Figuring my friend would handle this himself I stayed out of it, but he was offered nothing, not even a half #ss apology for what occurred. We then figured well we may as well pay and see what happens.
Four out of the five of us paid using a debit card, however my friend who had the issue with the lipstick paid cash. We sat and waited, and he never received his change nor an apology of any kind. What's even worse is just two weeks before, there was another issue with receiving silverware with food dried on it.. I would have already contacted the health department but since I wasn't the one with the lipstick on my glass, I felt it wasn't my issue.
I cant help but wonder due to the sanitation of the facility, how clean was the plate I ate off of, and how dirty was the glass I drank from.
They have the X as far as I am concerned. The only reason there is a one out of 5 star is because I had to choose something.
The health department should be contacted so a surprise inspection can be checked into.
Occasion: My fiancé’s birthday - went on 10/5/10
The food was a 7 out of 10. The service was a 9 out of 10. The waitress was great.
For the price, you don't get a salad or any side included. They charge you $2.95 for a side salad.
I ordered my mostacholi baked...that cost $1 extra. It wasn't truly baked as we can make at home or have seen on The Hill.
Needless to say, this will be a place I come back to when I forget how drab it is inside and that they up charge for everything. Also, we got home and our clothes smelled of smoke because we were not given an option for smoking or non from the disinterested hostess - so we assumed it was a smoke free place.
If you smoke and enjoy squandering money, it is recommended.
Rizzo's Restaurant South County - Stay Away.
I always loved Rizzo's on Watson/Chippiwa owned by Debbie Rizzo, unfortunately it closed years ago. I've been to the Rizzo's in South County a couple times in the last year. Last night I stopped there around 7 pm and ordered a Salmon Dinner for me, and a Chicken spaddini dinner for my husband. I waited over 30 mins for the take out order, even though the place was almost empty. The people in charge seems to be far more interested in the few "regulars" at the bar. When I asked the manager if my order would be us soon, he said "what do you expect, it has to be cooked".
When I did get home with over $50 worth of food, I wish I had gone somewhere else. The salmon was way over cooked, the very very small take out salads had lettuce that was turning brown. I paid $6 for two sides of broccoli and it was probably less then 50 cents worth of broccoli for each order. We did get two baked potatoes, that were very good. Next time I am in the area and hungry, I will seek out a different place to spent my money.
Rude and Offensive. My friend and I had lunch there she ordered a small salad and I ordered the special. The salad or dressing made her ill and she asked to take it away. She said she wasn't hungrey but since she had nothing to eat I put one of the two ravioli's left on my plate on her plate The manager /owner came from behind the wall were he had been watching us and yelled out "their splitting" we said one ravioli is NOT splitting an order. He said " how can I make any money on you when you're bill is only $12. He put the $2 charge for splitting on our bill and took off the salad which she had only two bites of anyway. A huge embarrasing discussion ensued (there was only one other patron in there at the time) and he told us never to come back in there again. Being a manager at an upscale restaurant herself, my friend told him this is no way to treat a customer and they would have no business if they treated their customers like this. STAY AWAY FROM THE DIRTY RESTAURANT AND the ignorant owner!
Non smokers beware. Please do not use this restaurant if you are not a smoker! A nonsmoking area is provided, but it is closed down early in the evening and you are forced to sit in "the other" non smoking area which is right next to the bar. If the regular non smoking room is reserved for a large crowd you will also not be able to use it. The food is pretty good, but I wouldn't say excellent.
Ultimate Dining Experience. This restaurant was one of the best I have ever been to. The food was excellent, the service was wonderful, and the atmosphere was truly delightful. Everyone was really friendly and I would definitely reccommend Rizzo's South County to everyone!
