expensive but well worth it. Very expensive if you are just going for dinner, I would suggest going elsewhere then coming here for the amazing desert which is fairly reasonably priced. Only problem we've had was the horrible service and the price. But if you don't mind waiting a long time and spending a lot of money, this is a great place to go.
Bad Food Bad Service.!!. Ok the service is terrible, the wait staff had a terrible attitude and it took way to long to get the raw food we cook our selves. The prices are outrageous, and the food was totally bland. They meat was tough because the use 2 choice meat and the veggies wilted and old.
Excellent, Superb!!. I must admit that before I visited the Melting-P*t I came here and read the reviews, and I was quite skepitcal. However, as soon as I was served my cheese appetizer all those reviews were quelled. The Delmar location is beautiful from the outside, and even more stunning inside, quiet booths await your party and the seclusion factor makes intimate dining very enjoyable. We were seated promptly for our 5:00 reservations, and our server greeted us and got our drinks right away. Our server was courteous and knowledgeable. All total we were there about 2 1/2 hours, allow about 3 for a full experience, and being a full wallet, although the experience was great, it was not cheap. Mixed drinks are the best in town, congrats to the bartender. I would highly reccomend this restaurant for a romantic evening, but the more people you bring along, the better this gets, with the communal cooking cauldron and all. 9.5/10 - $45-55/dinner - $9-10 alcoholic bev.
Very Yummy and fun too!. I have been here many times and I love it every time. You should allow yourself at least 3 hours for the dining experience. I always start with the cheese and then move on to one of the meat broths. I do not typically have any chocolate but I do hear it is quite tasty! There are romantic booths in the back, off to the side, or try and get a big table for a birthday party. The meals can become quite pricey, so if you are not a big eater, I suggest sharing.
I enjoy the opportunity to experience something a little different.. I took my six year old daughter out for the evening & we both enjoy something different. We only did cheese & dessert, but enjoyed them both. We started with the Wisconsin cheese & enjoyed it. We finished with a chocolate dessert with, I believe marshmellows. We enjoyed, but definately could not finish the dessert. I found the staff accepting of a six year old guest. Good thing! not only am I in the industry, but I am 25% tipper when warranted.
It's a fondue restaurant -- think about it. All the negative reviews of "the food was boiled" or "low quality food" grate on me. It's a fondue restaurant, people! Freaking duh. Of COURSE the food is boiled -- you boil it! We all know you don't go to The Melting Pot for the food, but for the experience. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here, had a great time, and would go back in a heartbeat. Leave yourself plenty of time and plenty of stomach room. We ordered the Big Night Out and almost got filled up on the bread and cheese fondue. The steak and lobster were outstanding, and yes, it takes a while for the food to cook (allow the broth to boil completely before dumping in the vegetables or cooking your meats). Gives you plenty of time to talk. Great for a costly first date or a fun night out.
This place was terrific. My fiance and I were visiting StLouis melting pot was listed as romantic and sounded like fun, good food. Some of the reviews made me nervous. made reservations for 6PM on Monday. arrived 5:30 and seated immediately. waiter directed us to points in the menu telling how things worked. chose The big night out, includes 4 courses. Cheese fondue, salad main course, dessert. Since my words are limited, on to the dessert. We went with plain milk choc. they bring plate pinapple, strawberries, cheesecake, brownies, poundcake, oreo and grahmcracker covered marshmallows. This is heaven. We had wonderful timeand fantastic meal. The flavor the fondue gave the seafood/ veggies wasn't boiled, had such great taste. We were there for 2 hours. We really enjoyed the relaxed pace. While eating a lot of food, spreading it out so long kept us from feeling uncomfortably full. The atmosphere is romantic. The booths very private. The staff was kind.
Making Memories. Every time I visit The Melting Pot I come away with a new memory. In August my husband and I sat across from two Cardinal players and their wives. They were friendly and chatted with us which only added to the night's experience. The food was great and the service was superb. The wine list is extensive. Recently we visited with several family members and purchased a package of flowers for my sister who was celebrating her birthday. What a thrill this was for her. Again, the food was great and the staff was very knowledgeable. We go often and seldom have trouble getting a reservation if we call a week - 10 days in advance!
Since when did the French invent Fondue? Oh yea I remember they didn't......
This restaurant is also trying to be something it is not. A great St. Louis restaurant. Avoid the poor quality food served up by attitude. Ill never eat there again.
Once in a Life Time. I visited the Melting Pot because I heard it was nice, expensive, and different from the typical restaurants. I also thought the food was just a little bland and could have used a lot more seasonings. But I give kudo's on the romantic atmosphere. I would probably go back and try something else on a special occasion.
