Best for Hindi class students. I visited this restaurant continuously for one semester during my stay at Wash-U and found this the best. Very friendly staff, particularly Rico. I miss this restaurant a lot. Best mexican drinks, salsa, and N. Modello..cheers....Lakhan Gusain

Grab a quick bite at this Mexican chain.. The Scene
The atmosphere at the Delmar Tomatillo is pretty relaxed. You order at the counter, then head to a booth inside or, more likely, one of the coveted patio tables. The Loop is prime territory for people-watching, and Tomatillo's sidewalk tables offer an excellent vantage point.

The Food
Six kinds of salsa, ranging in color from pea-green to pumpkin, are lined up on Tomatillo's order counter. Courageous customers dip into the habanero salsa, made from the fiery, lantern-shaped habanero chili. Others try the sweet corn and black bean salsa or the restaurant's namesake tomatillo salsa, which has a provocative lime flavor. Instead of the usual chicken, try a burrito or an oversize taco filled with barbacoa, the traditional Mexican braised, shredded beef. If you choose vegetarian fillings and go easy on the cheese and sour cream, the food at Tomatillo is surprisingly healthy as well as tasty.

Fast n Furious. Tomatillo Mexican Grill is by far one of the best fast food chains in St. Louis. Its service is quick and its food is fresh (depending on time of day). The unbelievable selection of Salsas is the point that keeps me coming back.

Muy terrible!. Aye caramba, what happened to the flavor? Very bland food. Nonetheless, I gave it a second chance the other day. I was lucky to have the server put rice that spilled out of someone else's burrito into mine. How nice! This restaurant has a lot of potential but it rarely lives up to it. Plus, if you earn a free burrito with their punch card, they still charge you for sour cream and guacamole. Very cheap.

Tomatillo Mexican Chill. Tomatillo is probably one of my favorite restaurants for a quick burrito or taco salad. They have great salsa, and the people who work there are hillarious. Sodas are a little expensive, but the rest of the food fills you well for the money. Service is always quick for me, so its a great deal. Go there... Tomato Jalapeno salsa rules!

Newer Owner needed. They changed owners a while back and I think its time to find one who cares about the service and the customer. I was ignored for 5 min. and then got rude service. I can spend my money elsewhere and get bad service and blah food.

Do Not Recommend. The last time I went to Tomatillo, the service left much to be desired (even for a fast food joint). Moreover, I think the charge for salsa is ridiculous. Food was so-so -- definitely not worth making any effort to return.
