Stonewater Spa and Salon. I love Stonewater Spa and Salon in Frontenac. I just moved to the St. Louis area and was having trouble finding something that would cut my hair the way I wanted it. I would highly recommend Misty to cut, style, color you hair. She's great. The rest of the staff is great also, always have a smile and are very friendly, but Misty by far is the best!

Avoid like the plague for haircuts and highlighting!. The Green Door it ain't. That was a great place before a new company took over using the name Stonewater Spa.

My daughter, 23 years old, used a large part of a gift certificate yesterday 9-29-07 at the Stonewater Spa in Frontenac, MO, for haircut, full highlighting and eye makeup lesson. I find it inexcusable that she has been depressed and in tears ever since! What a shame - and at a very expensive cost.

HAIR:

1. The person who cut her hair is Katie or Katy. My daughter TOLD her she wanted it cut no shorter than 1" below her shoulder so she can put it up frequently. The stylist's first wack with the scissors was above the shoulder; it doesn't even reach the shoulder, much less 1" below! When she tries to put it up now, there's just teensy sprouts of hair sticking out of the ponytail and it won't stay up well enough. THE EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE TRAINED TO LISTEN TO CUSTOMERS' REQUESTS. That's the first commandment of any hairdresser before a cut.

2. My daughter was never asked about highlighting, so she assumed they would put in a lot of blonde, like she obviously had when she arrived. To her horror, the stylist put in a LOT of lowlights, making it much darker than she has ever had it. They evidently had a full schedule yesterday, so she was passed around from one person to another to lighten what they had done. She is still miserable in that it is much darker than she wanted. THE EMPLOYEE SHOULD HAVE ASKED HER IF SHE WANTED LOWLIGHTS AT ALL. That's another first commandment of hairdressers before a "highlight" treatment.

EYE MAKEUP LESSON:

This was nothing more than could be found in a magazine article; it was not personalized enough to validate the expenditure.

Guess we'll be using the gift cards we have only for manicures or pedicures - anything but hair and makeup.

too hi price for too little time. I used to go here when it was the Green Door Spa, but it seems to have lost its personality and spazazz, Chief complaint is high staff turnover, the good people I used to go to have all left. New prices are much higher and session time has been reduced for massage. 45-50 minute massage, instead of the old 60 full minutes plus some, oh well. ... Old time Facial ladies are still there and they are decent.

Great Salon!. While I have yet to experience the spa, the salon is absolutely wonderful! Everyone is very friendly, and the place itself is very nice and clean. Azeza cut and styled my hair, and I couldn't be happier. She was very thorough, taking her time to make sure the cut was perfect! I will definitely go back!

Stonewater Sinks Like a Rock. I was a frequent visitor to The Green Door for years and I loved it. It was always a bit pricey, but at least I had experienced professionals to lean on. The staff at what is now called Stonewater Spa is not knowledgable or experienced. The quality of the massage I recieved was horrible. I felt rushed and on a strict timetable. The facialist tried to sell me everything but the bathroom sink and I felt that she too was in a hurry. My experience was very disappointing. I called the facility to speak to the General Manager, but she never returned my phonecalls so I guess she doesn't care either, that an old lady like me was unsattified. Bring back The Green door!

What a rip off it is!. I used to visit this spa when it was the Green Door, but is now a chain-spa from east coast and it shows. The place has lost its luster and glamour. Decor felt cold & medicinal, desk staff immature and inexperienced, new menu with much higher prices and shortened service times. Products for sale i never heard of and prices ridiculous on many items. My facial was very humdrum, but she kept pushing products. Massage was a joke - she must has just gotten out of school, mediocre technique, and she too was pushing me to buy products. It's now become the "burker-king" of the st. louis spa scene. A big let down. Looks like a lot of the experienced crew from the earlier years have all left. What a shame!

Where "Live younger longer" is the motto.. The Scene
Sophisticated and luxurious, serene and soothing. Relaxation treatments (facials, massages and more) take place away from the hustle and bustle of the hair salon scene. And you should know that Green Door has a back door at the west entrance of Plaza Frontenac, so you don't have to march through the mall if you're coming at a vulnerable time (or leaving post-facial with no mascara or blush).

The Services
Like most spas, you can come in for a treatment or two or three or stay for the whole day (lunch included). Choose one of the spa's packages or create your own from a menu of services that includes pumpkin peel, glycolic acid peel, laser treatment for brown spots and surface varicose veins, aromatherapy body wrap, seaweed body treatment, anti-aging facial, Swedish massage, hot-stone thermotherapy massage, and spa manicures and pedicures.
