Have eaten there over 100 times-seen it all. I have eaten at over 20 restaurants on The Hill. This is my favorite, but not the best (which depends on what you order, decor, ambiance, etc.).

Plain and simple, this is a super casual, slow service, slightly dirty, horribly small bathroom, that locals love! So maybe not for tourists.

Their Pizza is thin St. Louis style served on a 13x 9 cookie sheet, the best I have ever eaten (and I travel for a living), their Ravioli is awesome, as is the meatballs on the spaghetti.

Please note that Lou died a young death and left the restaurant to his young inexperienced family. They try very hard, be patient, they have good food if you concentrate on food......don't expect fancy or efficient...be nice and understanding and you will be rewarded for sure.!!!!

If I could give 0 stars I would. I drove 6 hours to visit my boyfriend in St. Louis for the fourth of July and with few restaurants open on 'The Hill' we went to this Lou Boccardi's thinking that with so many patrons there, it must be good. So wrong. My boyfriend returned his entree, the first dish he has ever sent back, because it was cold and overcooked. Not only were we still charged for the worst gnocci on earth but when we wanted to speak with the owner/boss Lily she refused to come out of the kitchen- thats the best part, she is the cook. While paying our bill, a fellow patron was canceling his dinner salad because it hadn't arrived in almost an hour.

Best St. Louis Style pizza and house dressing.. Lou Boccardi's has the best St. Louis Style pizza in the world - bar none! We also love the house salad - anchovie and celery dressing. Sounds disgusting (I don't really like anchovies), but it's the best salad dressing in town and a must try. Be warned - the atmosphere is lacking - dated and seems kind of dirty. Still, we go back regularly because the pizza and house dressing are incredible.
