not the best but decent. This surely is not the best pancake or breakfast place but it is good and it tolerates loud and obnoxious guests 24/7 yep you can fall of your chair laughing the waitress will come and help you up. The service was friendly both times we went. prices are ok, food is good. Atmosphere...well it is not anything fancy but that is certainly not what i expected. It's a good place, nothing to brag about but nothing to completely turn down either.…
DONT GO!!!!!.
730am on a Friday morning.
The atmosphere:
Smells like an ashtray from stem to stern. The moment you walk in the door the smell is overpowering. To my surprise, no one was even actively smoking at the time - but eventually, when someone did light up, the 'ventilation' system was completely inadequate.
Dirty coffee mugs waiting on the table - supposedly clean, until you see that there is food still stuck to the inside lip of the mug.
70's style decor with dark brown trimming and carpeting.
Grumbling waitresses shuffling back and forth across the floor.
The food:
In a word - awful.
The eggs over easy where the only thing not disgusting, but the credit for that I think can be assigned to the chicken, not this abomination of a diner.
Typical bad diner coffee.
The bacon is deep fried cardboard, leaving an uneasy greasiness in your mouth with a flavor only a dog could enjoy.
The sausage links where tiny cylinders of nasty. overly spiced and no 'snap' to them whatsoever.
The Pancakes should have been the highlight, right? NOPE. Overly dense and mealy, the heaviness of each bite will tear a hole in your pallet and have you running for the bathroom.
Adding to the awful experience is the giant false banner on the outside of the building promising a 6dollar-or-so combo of pancakes, eggs and meats. Inside, you'll get to see that the prices are much higher and overall well overpriced for the extremely low quality of food, atmosphere and service.
If you want a good breakfast go to chris's pancakes right down the road from there. It is better on every conceivable level than this poor excuse for a diner. Even in the middle of the night there is a better 24hr diner option close by in the city diner on south grand.
In short - DONT GO!!!…
Not what I remember about the place. I loved this place but no longer what they used to be. Been many years since I had been there and will not make any special trips to the Kingshighway location again! Dirty and outdated.
The best breakfast in town!. Uncle Bills is hands down the best breakfast in town! I love the pecan pancakes - reminds me of what my mom would make for us on sundays! You can't find pecan pancakes this good anywhere else. Uncle Bills is a st. louis tradition for my family and I think it should be for yours too!…
Plate situation. It is a bit smokey in there, and I myself smoke! I have been going there for years- and what bothers me the most is when your group orders something, the waitress will stack the plates all across his/her arm and when you get your food, there is a big indention in your pancakes, toast, hashbrowns.. whatever- of the plate they had stacked on top of it when they were walking it to your table. I HATE IT. It is disgusting that they had the bottom of a plate on my food. I dont know about you, but i have worked in restaurants and I know what goes on in a kitchen, and I do not want the bottom of the plate on my food. Also, they cannot add sometimes. My family orders the EXACT same thing every single time we go there and the check is different every time- LOL. One time we even went with with a friend and told them to split the check. The split checks together added up to 20 dollars more than the original check actually was. That was the last straw for me. It is crazy that they can not even get my check right- at any given time.…
