Unprofessional and rude! I bought my daughter's graduation gown which needed minimal alterations. The alteration lady was the most rude individual I have ever dealt with in a retail store. She said, right in front of us, "No more graduation gowns. I don't like doing them." Then she complained that her knees hurt because she had to kneel on the hard floor to pin the dress. The sales girl apologized and said that's just how she is. Inexcusable!!!!!! For my three daughters, we will find another place to go when they get married.
Wonderful Experience....read why.
In STL this weekend and went to 4 different bridal shoppes with my daughter. Ultimate Bridal offered pretty dresses; a helpful pleasant associate who offered common sense, professional advice and was not pushy as in "on sale today only" as we heard at another shop, but best of all...not only allowed, but INVITED us to take pictures!! Everywhere else posted signs that said no cameras, picture taking not allowed and had to resort to sneaking because after while one can't recall the details and you want to remember what it was that you liked.
Also, the eye sees things differently than a camera lens and the dress needs to look lovely in the pictures. Final dress choice not confirmed but what a great experience.
Do they WANT people to shop somewhere else??.
I stopped in to the shop on a Sunday afternoon, hoping to see a few dresses for about 5 minutes. The surly woman in the front part of the shop told me that they had a closed stock; the dresses could only be viewed during an appointment. I had to ask *her,* "Well do you have pictures I could look at?" She then showed me a sample book.
I told her that I didn't want a strapless dress, and was noticing most of the dresses in the book were strapless. She confirmed that about 90% of their dresses are strapless, and that NONE of the dresses have sleeves. She seemed to take delight in telling me what they DON'T have, rather than trying to figure out how she could work with me.
While I was looking through the book, a few teenage girls came in with an adult (the mom?). They asked this surly creature if the shop has prom dresses. She said tartly, "No, we don't carry prom dresses." No "I'm sorry, no," no suggestion of some place else they could try....again, she seemed to be smugly pleased that she didn't have what they were looking for.
I had thought I'd give this shop another try, with a different employee. But after reading all the negative comments on this site, it looks like they're all the same.
I'll spend my time and money somewhere else!
Great Service and Selection. They gave great service. I ended up buying my gown and bridesmaids dress here after looking at Davids and a few other salons. I spent a little more than I budgeted, but I had a great experience and found the dress I wanted! Good luck.
It Couldn't Get Any Worse. They delivered me a dress that was THREE sizes too big! If this kind of thing happens to you, don't take it back to Ultimate Bride for alterations because they are either making a LOT of mistakes with sizing, or they are wanting to get more money through alterations. The sales people were unfriendly, which can't make shopping for your dream dress enjoyable. Finally, the horrible service makes for a bad experience. I cannot understand how this place was voted best bridal salon in St. Louis. Avoid this place at all costs!
Not impressed. When I arrived, I filled out a questionaire of what I was looking for. As I filled it out, I thought, this will definitely help the woman assisting me get a really good idea of what I'm looking for. When I tried on the dresses in my room, I noticed none of the dresses were in my price range. I wasn't impressed with the selection I was given either. The employees don't come off as mean or anything, but picking out my dress is a really special, happy time for me, and I would have prefered to to work with someone who would have showed some excitement. My experience wasn't awful, but I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone.
STAY AWAY...FAR AWAY.
I should have listened to the advice I had been given by a client of mine that this place is awful. I had to schedule an appt. to even be able to look at gowns...then at the appt, I nor my mother were allowed to look through any of the gowns. They sat us down and asked a ton of questions about my likes/dislikes, and then proceeded to fill the dressing room with dresses for me...which were the furthest thing from what I asked for. I said no v-necks, and I prefer full a-line dresses over form fitting. the first one she had me try on had a v neck practically down to my belly button, and was extremely fitted....it was like she listened to nothing I said?!?!
I was not shown any sale gowns, even though the mailer I received said "$99 sale gowns". Total BS, the cheapest thing I saw was $900, and most were at least $1500. When I asked about the sale gowns, she said they were nothing I would care for. Really, because I think I am the judge of that, but apparently they don't think so. And when she found out I wanted to spend around $1,000 she became completely uninterested and pretty much showed us the door.
Bottom Line... If you have tons of money to spend, you may like this place. But if you are wanting to spend under $1000, and/or would like to work with someone who actually LISTENS to what you have to say... STAY AWAY
Terrible customer service~!!! Take your money somewhere else!.
Okay, I am just a bridesmaid, but I have had the WORST experience with Ultimate Bride. First, using their "expert opinion," they made me buy a dress that was 2 sizes too big (according to the place I finally took my dress to get altered). At first I was going to get my dress altered at Ultimate Bride, but the first time I went in, they acted like I was a nuisance, and sent me on my way because I didn't have my shoes (even though on the phone before the appt., they said I didn't need them...). Then, I made an appointment for another try only to show up for my 2nd appt...and they were CLOSED!!! When I called to complain, the woman snickered a bit saying "this happens all the time..." WHAT? I finally picked up my dress and took it to another shop for alterations.
I paid a lot of money for that dress and am sure UB got a cut of that money. I am shocked by how they manage customers!!! By the way, the other bridesmaids AND the bride have all had trouble with them too; Don't go to UB if you want a pleasant wedding experience!!!!!! They really need to get it together!!
Don't let a whiff of attitude keep you from the great inventory..
There's no denying it, Ultimate Bride carries some great gowns. Look for gorgeous things by Christian Dior, Lazarro, Amsale, Richard Glasgow, Scaasi and other top-end designers. Traditional, simple gowns abound, but so do some other, more dramatic looks. The buyers here go for luscious fabrics and some truly exquisite lacework. Call and ask about their trunk show schedule and you could end up meeting the designer of your dress.
The sales staff do take themselves a bit seriously, it's true, but they are experienced and professional. Don't be intimidated; there are plenty of salespeople interested in helping you find the best dress. But do be on time for your appointment and don't take an entourage, just one or two companions you trust to give you an honest assessment. Follow these basic rules of bridal salon etiquette and you should all get along just fine.
