This is a lovely local gem. It's nowhere near The [Italian} Hill neighborhood, but it's an Italian treat nevertheless. We attended a birthday party in late October for a family member in the wine cellar. The food was simply wonderful. The calamari was sweet and tasty and the fried spinach was light and SO tasty. At dinner, the pasta course was light and absolutely delicious. For my entre', I chose (from 3 choices) to have a maple marinated tilapia and it was truly fabulous. My husband selected the veal dish and raved about it.. It was a truly wonderful dinner (as I knew it would be, as we had been there before.) This is a local gem.... I think I'll call for a reservation for tomorrow night.

From the outside the resturant looks like a whole in the wall, but it's lovely once you come in. I was first introduced to this resturant by an Italian Vice President at the company I work with. He hosted a thank you lunch here for some of the IT staff. Since that I've been coming here with my husband for special dinners and other occasions when we're not wearing jeans. The Calamari is to die for so tender / the best I've ever had. I can't go to this resturant without ordering it. The Escarole is excellent too. Some of our favorite main dishes include the Risotto Milanese, Tortellini, and various veal dishes. My husband and I have both loved anything we've ever ordered here. I don't think you could go wrong with anything. The service is excellent without being intrusive. I don't like getting a napkin put on my lap, etc. -- this isn't done here, but certainly appreciate getting my water glass refilled constanting without even noticing, wait staff who can discuss the food choices intelligenty and make recommendations, and the owners stopping by to chat. I also like that fact that for any of the pasta dishes you can get a half order. Another plus parking is a breeze unlike any of the Italian resturants on the Hill. Another tip: This is a popular resturant. Make sure to make a reservation

Orgasmic dessert! My friends threw me a surprise birthday party in their downstairs wine cellar room and the entire evening was an experience like none other! Dee and Michelle were our servers and were fabulous! The food was awesome and we dined on such selections as the grilled salmon, fillet, veal marsala, and chicken with lemon caper sauce. Even my cheesehead sister enjoyed the St. Louis tradition of toasted ravioli for an appetizer and the ricotta dessert was fantastic! This restaurant was amazing in every aspect...service, food & ambience. Thanks Frank Papa's for a great birthday!
