He's the BEST when it comes to great HAIR.... I've known and been going to Donnal for years. Because I've moved several times, i've tried to find a hair stylist that isn't scared to cut hair but more importantly, understands how my hair grows and can actually make a difference. Most salons i've tried just trim and shape and i leave looking the same. Time after time i run back to Donnal. Does he have the best manners? maybe not but as long as i look good and he actually cuts my hair so not only does it look great but the grow out period is also great, i don't care about his "jokes" or whatnot. He's a great person at heart, this i know and i think alot of his issues is really a culture clash. I hope people try his salon regardless of the neg comments because lets face it, unless we hate something personally, we arent going to "waste" time writing a review. therefore i whole-heartedly believe for every neg review, there is at least 5 positive reviews that hasn't been written. He really is the best when it comes to HAIR!

jerk. donnals, this guys is full of crapt. look at his face, his is full of craps and full of lies. pot smoker. i have been workiing with him and is my hold life full or regards. skill wise is so suck. another hollywood actor. he should have been in the rubbish. that where he belong

Terrible!. I have gone to Donnal's several times and refuse to go back! I have no problem listening to peoples professional opinions and can even deal with the rude attitude from time to time. The thing I found most offensive at this salon was the dirty jokes that Donnal thought were appropriate to tell me. Every single time I went in to have my hair done, it was inevitable that the perverted remarks would happen. Disgusting! Totally unprofessional environment. If this guy is so good, then why was his salon empty everytime I went? I now go to Dominic Michael. It is an amazing salon! As for JPLS8.....I'm sure you must be a friend of Donnal. Too funny!

Hair Artist. I started going to Donnal about a year ago in search of a great cut and a new look. Donnal said some things I didn’t want to hear like, “Stop letting people put bleach on your hair. It is terribly unhealthy.” My hair was extremely short and needed a lot of growing out in order for him to create a style for me. Donnal made me look good even during the growing out period. In the end, he found a style that is very easy and really suits my face, personality, and style. He asked me to trust him and I did. If he had listened to me, I would probably look the same as I did when I walked in the door: over-bleached, dry, a style too short for me, and unyouthful. If he had listened to me, I would not have the look I have today.

So, if you want to tell him what to do, do not bother to go. Donnal is an artist who will help create the right look for you, but you must trust him.

Donnal quotes: “All I do is help bring out the beauty that is already there. Stop talking about your age. It is boring. Youth is a state of mind.”

So leave your agenda at the door. Let go and let Donnal work his magic. Donnal is the best hair artist in the world as far as I’m concerned, and Francis is the best color artist. Everyone in the salon is like “family.” They are awesome.

Best in town!!!!. I have not been to Donnal in a few years because I was trying to save money and cut back. I have been to six different salons and 10-12 different hairdressers everytime trying to convince myself that it might be as good as a Donnal cut but after a few weeks realizing it never is even close. I tell you he is THE ONLY person in St. LOUIS that understands how to cut hair and I am back at his salon and very happy. If you do not like his attitude I am sorry . I have always found him to be polite and full of positive energy. Maybe like me he just seems above the negative and the loser minds because he is a winner I am guessing...... As a former hairdresser from twenty yeras ago in Ladue I truly understand how good he really is and feel lucky that I can travel fifteen minutes to get the best rather then across country. So hard to be fabulous always having the insecure trying to drag you down.......

Donnal is psycho!. My husband and I have been going to Donnals hair studio for several years and although very pricey we continued to be loyal customers. I had heard the rumors about Donnals attitude, but had never experienced it first hand until yesterday. I went in to have my hair colored and cut. My appointment was at 1pm, and by 430, they were finally blow drying my hair which still had not been cut. When I very calmly expressed my concern over the way my color had turned out, Donnal threw the hairdryer across the room and told me that he would not continue to work on my hair. He told me to get out of his salon and to never come back and that he had enough money and didn't need mine. Are you kidding me? This guy is nuts!

Great Haircuts. My family has been going to Donnal's for over 10 years. Let me tell you, no one can cut hair like Donnal. If you have difficult hair, he can tame it. Unlike some of the other posts, Donnal does listen to what you want. However, he will be honest and tell you if a style isn't going to work with your hair. The prices are a little high, but getting a haircut of this quality is worth it. I've tried other places, but can't get the same type of results.

Also, Donnal has taught his employees his skills. Yong is a great stylist. He pays attention to every detail.

Read the reviews before making an apt.. My girlfriend recently had a visit with the salon during her business trip. She called me after the appointment tearfully. Needless to day, when she came back, a full head of beautiful hair was bloody chopped off by what she called the "Nazi hair stylist". I thought it was just her experience until I read the bad reviews. Apparently, my girl said they are so true. Man! that was some haircut! I can't wait for her hair to grow back!

Watch out for the repudiator (Ms. CCCCC) here! She has been rebuffing every negative comments, must been getting paid for it, yea?

run from this place. My daughter was approached that her hair was beautiful and to please come in and let them do free highlights. Well the son of Donnal did not know what he was doing, would not listen, would not show color samples, or a picture of what he was going to do. And said he was doing a 'custom' job. it was a disastor and Donnal watched the whole time, then said, "oh I need to let him learn, I will correct this quickly" Well, 2 hours later after also spilling product on her dress-they didn't even cover her, he said she would get used to it and 'school' was over. We left because she had to go to work and she cried, and it was awful. Then we called back and the son says, I made a mistake, I'm sorry. I said well, fix the mistake, have your dad fix it. And he said "school is over" Donnal of course was busy. What a scam. Don't let them near you! people that don't listen and won't correct mistakes are really unprofessional.

a sylist who has to TELL vs. show you his talent..... if you want to feel like absoute crap then go see Donnal.

he gets upset if he finds out another salon charges more than he does and then he bumps up his price....if you are someone that feels that his hideous price must be backed up by talent (and you can brag you go there b/c you can afford it)....go for it....but let me tell you your friends are making fun of your hair...and you look silly...

donnel has no interest in making you feel good....he loves the power you give him to mess with your look....

and if you want color forget that, too....he will not

make anyone blond...he loves to dye everyone's hair black.....

and the salon's decor is faaaarrrr from anything spectacular....helllloooo, the water fountain is sold at any Pier 1!!! give me a break!!! it is all bad '80's!!!

and don't get me started on how he wheels his little chair around from client to client....so no one person has his time....and you end up spending 3 hours of your precious life there when it should have been 1!!!

he is an old arrogant man that TELLS you how great he is rather than shows you!!!! he consistantly berates his employees, as well, making it so freaking tense in there you want to scream just to releave the tension...

and it explains why he is the only stylist in there!!!

trust me...i could go on!!!
