Out of business. The Gulf Coast Cafe has been out of business for several years. The place is now called Sameem's Afghan Restaurant with the same phone number. I have found that many of the other listings are years out of date. It always pays to call ahead.

The Grand South Grand neighborhood lands a bit of treasure from the sea at this family-run cafe.. The Scene
With the addition of the adjoining storefront, Gulf Coast Cafe eliminated the crowding that had begun to plague this family-owned operation. The initial kinks in service have also been worked out. With all these improvements, diners are now able to concentrate fully on the exquisite food.

The Food
Start with the scallops Breval, a flavorful dish of medium-sized scallops in a light cream sauce, or the calamari fritto. For an entree, the firecracker shrimp over angel-hair pasta with a tomato cream sauce has enough kick to wake up your senses. Other choices include tilapia, salmon, paella and crab cakes. For the indecisive type, the shellfish Algarve is a little bit of everything: mussels, oysters, clams, crab and shrimp over pasta. Desserts are divine; try poached pears in caramel sauce or moist and flaky baklava.

go to this place. Great food at a reasonable price. This place is awesome! Every part of the meal was excellent. The ambiance of the restaurant is a plus too. Nothing overly fancy, but very eloquent and relaxing. Friendly staff also. Everyone should try this place, especially if you're a fan of seafood/pasta dishes. It blows my mind that for less than a few bucks difference in price that people would rather go to a chain restaurant than eat at a quality establishment such as this. GO HERE!!!

Made a person from Seattle feel at home. As a distraction from the business travel, hotel-by-the-airport blues, I looked up this restaraunt and decided to give it a try. Not only is the location great, but the food was excellent! I loved the friendliness of the staff and other diners as well. I will definately stop in when I pass back through.
