Bad Experience. First I don't understand why they added the tips into our bill as we only have 5+1baby of family members. They added 19% of tips into my bill. If you pay by credit card be careful don't pay twice, as when they will not print it as tips but as total charges and leave the tips blank. I don't think I will visit again.

My FAVORITE. Wow, I don't know what happened to the last two people, but I've been going to this place for a about 2 years now and LOVE it...the waiters we get are always pretty helpful, and the food is fantastic. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Bad Service. I felt like I was being harassed by the waiter when he talked to me. He was very disrespectful, he even pointed at my face when he tried to talk to me. When I tried to talk to the manager, the waiter simply told me that the manager was not present. I will never return to this restaurant and neither will my friends.

Worst Service EVER. A friend and I decided to try this restaurant last week and it was one of the worst decisions we have ever made. The waiter that served us was not very friendly, we definitely did not feel welcomed. He was rude and had near to none conversational skills. Whenever I asked for anything (eg. refill my drink), he made it seem like it was the biggest hassel and took nearly forever. He actually confronted us outside the restaurant when he saw that we left him a small tip, I have never felt more embarrassed in my life. If you ever feel like being treated like garbage and then eating some average thai food, then this is your restaurant.

Still my favorite. Having lived in 3 states since graduating from Wash U, I still haven't found another Thai restaurant that comes close to Thai Country cafe. You can't beat the great prices and flavorful food. This place serves simple, well made Thai dishes that remind me of what I got in Thailand. Yum!

Delicious. I too frequented this splendid restuarant weekly as a WashU student and although I have traveled far and wide since I have yet to encounter more delicious Thai food. The Tom Yum soup is by far the best I have ever tested, a perfect mix of spicy and sour. The flavors in the pnang are layered deeply and intriguing. I recommend to one and all.

Yep, this is the one with the wagon wheels.. The Scene
Rural Thailand meets the great American West at this restaurant in the Delmar Loop. The two wagon wheels in the middle of the dining room are unquestionably weird, but they do add a certain kitsch value to the place. And college kids love kitsch. And cheap food. And pierced waiters. Yeah, this place is "in" among the undergrad crowd.

The Food
Portions are large, and prices are low, which also explains Thai Country Cafe's popularity with students. There's only one item on the menu over $7. Offerings are pretty basic--noodle soups, rice dishes, pad thai, etc.--and the flavors aren't as nuanced as one might like, but everything is at least competent, and the salads are actually quite good. Yum woon sen blends glass noodles with lots of plump shrimp for a hearty meal in itself. Don't miss the Thai iced coffee either: it's particularly good.

Deserves an Award. When I was a WashU student, Thai Country Cafe was a staple of my diet. My best friend and I ate here every week for two years; We strongly recommend the spring rolls, panag curry, and Pad Thai.

In fact, Thai Country Cafe was so important to us, not just because of the food but because of the atmosphere and the familiar faces, that we awarded the restaurant for four years of culinary excellence. Our award is still on the wall -- check it out on your next visit !

Dinner for everyone. The atmosphere is casual and fun, so go here for a date or with friends or family. The decor is that of a high quality restaurant but you don't have to pay the high prices that usually go along with that. I would recommend getting the fried tofu as an appetizer because it comes with a delicious sweet and sour sauce. The pad thai is also very good, and the fried chicken soup is a really nice American-style Thai dish that might especially appeal to the less adventurous.
