A Must try for Curly Hair and all those who have given up hope of a good style!
by denisemk at Citysearch
WOW, finally a great place. I am in my 30's and I have never, ever, never had a good haircut. I have tried everywhere from chain salons to upscale. I decided to try Bouffant Daddy since they specialize in curly hair.
Sarama (sorry I am so bad with names, but I think this is right) was my stylist. I came in with my sad story of bad haircuts and my last dye job. She went to work, after all was said and done my hair is GREAT, for the first time ever I have left a salon happy!
She knew what I needed just by looking at my hair., and did it. I couldn't even put into words what I wanted, but she just knew what would work. I felt like I was on a TV makeover show. The rest of the staff was equally as kind. The colors in the place are great, you feel like your somewhere fun!
Thanks again! Highly recommend for curly hair, especially for those who have given up trying to find a style!
- Pros: Knowlege of curly hair, good price, very colorful
- Cons: parking, but it is downtown Maplewood, so its to be expected
I love my haircut and style!

Billy cut and styled my hair...I like that he was so focused and attentive to detail as well as skilled, intuitive, professional and easy to be around. I am sure the entire staff is great.
The atmosphere of the shop is wonderful: artistic, tasteful, uplifting and natural.
I also want to add that I am so grateful for this shop as it is due to people who have dreams and work together with the creativity, skills, and enthusiasm to make them materialize that we all benefit so abundantly. This shop greatly adds to bringing Maplewood business area back to life with such wonderful taste and atmosphere.
- Pros: Skilled, calm, focused, knowledgable, friendly, affordable.
- Cons: No cons.
Piper gave me the best haircut of my life!
by chompers11 at Citysearch
I recently started getting my haircut by Piper at bouffant daddy in maplewood and I couldn't be happier. I dont think that I've ever gotten a good haircut in my life, let alone a great one, until I found piper! I'm not very interested in spending a lot of time on my hair and Piper listened to what I wanted and gave me a stylish, managable hair cut that fits my personality well. And to top if all off she can replicate the haircut EVERY time I go back for a trim! I know I seem a bit over-excited about Piper but if you've ever dealt with a long string of bad haircuts you'll understand why I'm so happy that I've found a sytlist that I can trust and depend on for a great haircut!
- Pros: friendly, professional, affordable, fun environment
- Cons: no drawbacks that I've found so far
Piper is so talented!!!

Piper has been cutting my hair for the past year or so. She had cut my hair a couple times but we petty much kept it the same length and just with a different cute tyle each time. When I decided to cut my hair VERY short (which can be very scary), Piper listened to the concerns I had and what details I wanted. So many people (including myself) loved it! I feel likeI am in very good hands when Piper is cutting my hair!
- Pros: Piper is the best stylist I've ever been to
Piper = Awesome Stylist, Bouffant Daddy is so CUTE!

Go See Piper! My first time seeing her was fantastic! I brought in a photo of what I wanted, actually several photos and asked for her serious help making a good decision for my hair/face/etc. She helped me pick out a cut that would look best and matched the photo exactly!? What a pro...Love Bouffant Daddy!
- Pros: Cute jewelry/ gifts, awesome stylist
- Cons: nothing!
Curly Hair Expert

After trying many salons I called Bouffant Daddy and asked who would be the best person to cut my long curly hair. They made me an appointment with Samara, and for the first time I finally felt like I had found a stylist who truly understood how to cut curly hair. I was very pleased with my first appointment with Samara and I recently entrusted her to cut my hair short for the first time in years. Fabulous!
- Pros: best haircut in years
- Cons: none
If you have curls, Erin is the girl to go to!!
by Italitina at Citysearch
I stalked this girl at work (ok, not literally! Ha!) who's curls always look amazing! Having naturally thick curly hair, I am always trying to find the best stylist because not everyone can cut curls correctly! She told me about Bouffant Daddy's and her stylist named Erin! Being desperate to find the beautiful curls that I KNOW are hiding underneath my mass of frizzy curls, I decided to just call and make an appointment.
From the moment I walked in, I was completely comfortable and relaxed...so relaxed that I told Erin to just do whatever she thought would look good! Honestly, that is how comfortable I was!
She made my curls come alive! I have never received so many compliments in my life---complete strangers coming up to me in the store, telling me how gorgeous my hair is! I was so impressed not only with Erin but the entire salon, that I brought in 2 more fellow curly gals this past Saturday and now they are completely hooked.
THE best curly salon I have found yet! Good prices and maximum service. I live in Illinois and I will continue to drive there for my stylist, Erin! She's wonderful!
- Pros: Ambience! The shop is adorable! The staff are all very nice!
Hair Saviors!

I had numerous people recommend Bouffant Daddy to me over the years, but I didn't go until a year ago. I hate that I wasted all that time because they are awesome!
My stylist, Erin, works miracles. Whether she's teaching me the best ways to manage my unruly hair (it's thick, baby fine, and naturally curly), giving me a trim, fulfilling my often unusual color requests, or turning my Bert-from-Sesame-Street-style eyebrows into those of a 1940s glamour queen, she's always patient, skilled, and a lot of fun. She takes the time to explain how and why things work (or don't). Her techniques are different and far superior to any stylist I've ever frequented, which is what separates her from the rest.
On one occasion my hair didn't take the color the way we'd expected. I didn't have to complain; she knew it wasn't right and she took the time to explain what had happened and corrected the problem with gorgeous results. Another time, she had waxed my brows and to me, they looked perfect. But after talking to me for a few minutes afterwards, she took me back to the waxing station because she wasn't happy with one small portion - seven little eyebrow hairs, and she cared enough to fix them.
Mary, the receptionist, is also a delight. Friendly and sweet, she makes a point of getting to know their clients.
And the price? Wow! I was stunned after my first visit because I was expecting to spend twice the amount I was charged.
Overall, I've never loved a salon the way I love Bouffant Daddy. It's always a fun, relaxing experience and I always look and feel great after a visit. After one year and six visits, I'll never go to anyone else if I can help it.
- Pros: Incredibly skilled, caring staff.
- Cons: It would be nice if they opened a bit earlier.
The Hair I was Looking For!
by JennyMason at Citysearch
I?m surprised at all the different ratings the other reviewers gave. But some people can be really picky about their hair. I?m not, so take that into account.
I first went to BD?s because I had short hair and my old hair girl would cut it, and it would get shaggy in a week. I decided to try somewhere else. I had an appointment with Erin, and I haven?t thought about going anywhere else since! Erin cut exactly the style I wanted, she told me about my hair type, and she even showed me different ways to style my cut.
Every time I go in, she takes the full time to work on my hair. No shortcuts (no pun intended). She uses the razor to soften the edges, and goes the extra mile every time.
When I wanted color, she asked what I was looking for, and she suggested a few things. She asked me how ?wild? or ?tame? I wanted it, and she nailed it.
It is a super cute shop, and the boutique gifts are actually affordable!
I can?t speak for the other stylists, but Erin is super!
- Pros: Great talent. Can get appointment same week.
- Cons: May be to "edgy" for some people
Looks like my 5 year old did my hair!!!!
by teddys28 at Citysearch
I was referred to Bouffant Daddy's after my hairdresser moved. "JEFF NOBLE" is the "BEST",my best friend said. I liked my friends hair, so I made an appointment. I told Jeff want I did not want, 1. Lots of layers 2.Keep my lenght, but with L0NG LAYERS in the front. 3.Nothing that is curly, I have very straight hair, It will not curl. 4. Keep it simple. 5. Keep the lenght, get rid of the dead ends. While Jeff was cutting my hair, I told him it looks like you're cutting too much off, his response, "I stopped where the comb stopped, then I cut!!!"
What I got: everything I did NOT want. Hair that is extremely uneven, short, short hair, and tons of layers, that he "curled while drying".
I was told, "Wait until your friends comment, then you'll be happy, First comment, Did you pay him?, Second, I would never have paid him, Are you going to get "extentions"? Third, What are you going to do now?
I also needed highlights and lowlights,,,I got a phone call that Jeff was sick, and he is never sick...When I asked is it going to be hard to make a different appointment,,,,,,,Oh, yes, he is very busy> WHAT??????
If you want no style, have to pay another hair dresser to figure something out while your hair is still growing out, without extensions, not to get the highlights and lowlights you requested,,,,,,,,GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!
IF YOU WANT A DECENT HAIRCUT, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE,,,,,,UNLESS YOU CAN AFFORD TO MOVE TO THE AMAZON FOR 6 MONTHS TO A YEAR, TO HIDE FROM CIVILIZATION. (if you go here, you might as well go to Great Clips, or have your 5 year old child cut your hair.)
- Pros: The receptionist was nice.
- Cons: Everything else.

So, I decided to make the transition from very long hair to very short hair. I researched salons that specialize in curly hair and I chose Bouffant Daddy based on the internet reviews. What probably should have been a nerve-racking experience for me (about 12" taken off) was fun and enjoyable. Julie was my hair dresser. She spent a lot of time thinking of different ways to get the look I wanted and involved me in the process which made me feel very comfortable. The end result was incredible. The next day I was given compliments from a total stranger who didn't even know I cut my hair, everyone at work said they liked it, and my husband said it was gorgeous (not usually a big complimenter, my husband). Thanks for the confidence boost and the super cute hairdo, Julie!!!!!! See you in a couple months for a trim.
- Pros: cute/friendly atmosphere, talented staff
- Cons: parking was a little difficult during the 5 o'clock rush, no biggy
