User Reviews for Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar

I've been to all the high end steakhouses here in St. Louis and around the country, and, bar-none, the strip steak at Fleming's is the best cut of beef I've ever had. It had just the right amount of marbling and that velvety texture that a strip is supposed to have but so rarely does. Also try the Fleming's Potatoes-they're so much more than just au gratin-they've got a little jalepeno pepper in there that kicks it up without being overly spicy. They've got an excellent wine list that is well organized and has something for everyone. Try the Pallazzo Proprietary Red. If you can't decide what you want ask for George--trust me, his recommendations have always been spot on. The service is professional. They have that knack for knowing if its a romantic dinner or business client dinner and you want them to just do their job and stay out of the way. But on the flipside they are always friendly and fun.

Pros: Fantastic Steaks, Professional Service, Wine list with something for everyone

Cons: Not open for lunch so I can eat there twice in the same day!

My Husband and I were at Fleming's last night for New Years Eve Dinner before we went to a party, and the dinner was absolutely terrific. I had Their Colossal Lobster Tail, I think the waitress said it was 18 ounces, and it came with a creamy lemon butter sauce that complimented it very well. While my husband had the Bone-in Ribeye. The steak was cooked to order. We also had generous side portions of their signature Fleming's potatoes and Creamed Spinach. Both were very very good. They also have a very extensive wine list which can be overwhelming at first, but our waitress was very helpful in helping us select. the perfect wines to compliment our meals. We then finished our meal with the Lava Cake. Oh my god...you have to get the Lava cake...the best dessert I've ever had. Needless to say we will be back and we will tell all our friends.

Pros: service, food, ambience, valet parking

Cons: a little noisy

Dec 21 I had a terrible fillet! How can one be cooked "med" with not a trace of moisture left in the meat. Dry and not at all tasty. I think the chef needs a few lessons about the Flemings way of cooking and resting the meat... The snow peas were soggy pieces of overcooked vegetable. The restaurant itself is noisy as can be... On the plus side we were seated as soon as we arrived. I have been to Flemings in San Diego and it is a fabulous restaurant with perfection everywhere...don't know how this location failed so miserably.

Pros: Valet parking available

Cons: The worst steak I have ever had at a supposedly high rated restaurant.

We got a Saturday evening reservation for 8:45. They had been running behind all evening & everyone in the lobby with us with reservations waited at least an hour to be seated. They claimed they did call one party & ask them to come in an hour later than their reservation but they did not call the rest of us. The parties that complained the loudest got free drinks. The rest of us that waited with reservations were ignored. We had a pleasant waiter but he never brought our appetizer. The food was mediocre. Bad experience for too high a price. Their uncaring attitude has turned me off.

Cons: poor customer service

What a very pricey, disappointing meal. You can get a better cut of filet at Outback at a third of the price. We now know why the place was empty on a Friday night!

Pros: Good wine list, good service

Cons: $$$$, noisey kitchen, empty dining room

This is a fine steakhouse that does it right! Great food, great wine list, a top-shelf bar and very good service. The great thing about Flemings is that you can make it a romantic dinner or a business dinner, a group of friends or a family gathering... It works great for all of these. Bring your gold Amex card, however, it's not cheap. But for the fine night out to dine in St. Louis--Flemings is well worth it! Superb filet and some great seafood... also consider the wine flights. Location is great as is the ambiance. It's TOPS in St. Louis.

Pros: Great Steaks, Great Location, Superb warm ambiance

Cons: Not cheap, busy, bar gets really crowded on weekends. NO KIDS!!! for sure!

Fleming's is often accused of being pricey, but you can either pick more carefully from the ala carte menu for a smaller bill, drink somewhere else before dinner, or come on Sundays, when each restaurant has a Prime Prime Rib Dinner (repetition intended), with large prime rib cut, side dish, salad and dessert for only $24.95. That, is value!

Pros: Incredible Food, Unequalled Service, All Non-Smoking Bldg.

Cons: Low Light/hard to see, open dining area loud, MUST have reservation
