Over Rated!! We were first timers and obviously had expectations that far exceeded their reality!! Were seated at a corner table by the rest room, it was busy not a problem. About every employee passing by bumping into my wife's chair and acted disgusted like she was in the way.(BTW She is not fat by any means & had pulled in tight to the table.) The head waitress passed by and bumped her in the head with a stack of menus, she was holding in her right arm.(And I am positive it was quite by accident!) When asked if we could have another table they acted like we were asking for the world and left us sitting for about twenty minutes. Finally the head waitress that bumped my wife in the head came over and inquired why we wanted to move? We explained and were told they were busy and stuff like that just happens.(NO Apologies!!) Also she wanted to argue with us about her bumping my wife in the head!! As opposed to saying she was sorry and did not realize she had done it, she went into a dissertation denying that it happened. The food! It was ok but but not remarkable. We have eaten at far better restraints than Annie Gunn's for less money!! The waiter was above average & friendly!! The Management has a lackadaisical attitude and needs retraining in Customer Service. This place has (Had) a good reputation from the past as was conveyed by several friends. But, they obviously have had a drastic decline in competent employees and are trying to survive off their past reputation. As I guess you may have surmised for your self by now this was our First and Last time eating at Annie Gunn's! Good Luck if you chose to try it.
Pros: UMMM?
Cons: Read Review!

Ended up at Annie Gunns last weekend for dinner with friends. Nice vibe walking in the door. Lively crowd, tv's showing sports up above us. Overall, feel of place thought I was in for a good dinner. Here is the challenge. Way too expensive for what you get. I had the shrimp appetizer they are famous for. Pretty tasty. I had a filet for the main course. I had some homemade icecream for dessert. Quality of the food is not the issue. The price, especially for St. Louis, is way too high. My steak was $28. My appetizer was $14. Come on now. If the price wasn't so ridiculous, I would recommend the place. It was fun. The menu is extensive. The food quality is good. The prices are what shoots the place for me.

Annie Gunns... The apps were ok. How can you screw up chips. The drinks are very, very expensive. The meal was ok (sent steak back because it was overdone). Portion size were small... for what was charged I should have been able to take the plate home. Be prepared to wait even though you made reservations. Skip it, St. Louis has many other restaurants that do it better.

Annies is what I would deem 'normal' food. Potatoes that taste like potatoes, a steak that tastes like a steak. Good crab cakes. Decent glass of wine. But for the price? This isn't fine dining. It's just a nice steakhouse. If you want dinner at a reasonable time, make sure that you make reservations far in advance. The place is crowded to the gills, and the noise level is a bit much, unless you imbibe and then you'll be fine. LOL And yes, there is pretentiousness, but mostly from the clientele, not from the staff. I've yucked it up more than once with some of the wait people, who made the experience enjoyable. You'll have a decent meal here. But if you've got a palate that is more sophisticated, Annies isn't something that you'll write home about.
Pros: Outside patio, friendly staff
Cons: Crowded, loud, overpriced for what is served

Jaalain's review was totally wrong. Annie Gunns is a wonderful restaurant. She must have ordered her steak well done because their steaks are never tough. Their steaks and seafood are wonderful. They have the best meat loaf ever along with their jumbo grilled shrimp. Their steaks will melt in your mouth. Check out their specials as you can't go wrong. Try their Selbach wine with your meal as well.
Pros: Cozy atmosphere. Good food.
Cons: Long wait during the weekends

No qualms about the food and servive, although a little pricy...but be ready for an atmosphere where it's almost impossible to hide from the smokers. We'd love to go back but not until the management learns that smoking is an awful habit and we non smokers don't appreciate "non-smoking areas" in name only!. It may be a place to be seen, but not by folks like us who don't want to send our clothes to the cleaners when we get home. Sorry "Annie"...clean up your air and we'll be back. Sorry Annie
Pros: very good food
Cons: smoke, smoke, smoke

Atmoshere is warm and pleasent. The food and drinks are way way way overpriced but decent. I dine out 4 to 5 nights a week with my wife and friends. St Louis has many fine resturants that are reasonable with better food. Overated.
Pros: atmosphere
Cons: prices, food quality

I am from Manhattan, have traveled and lived all over the world ... I have sophisticated taste ... I know value ... and rest assured Anne Gunn's has neither. I guess if one is from St Louis one would think this place expensive and it is considering the extremely low quality of the food and service. There were four of us here on business ... we tried a little of everything ... steak (amazingly tough!! worst I have ever had) ... swordfish (extremely fishy smell, obviously not very fresh) ... but what can one expect from a restaurant that specializes in POTATOES!! I do admire the owners of Gunn's as they have hit on a gold mine ... diners that know nothing about food that are willing to pay anything for it. Watching the uninformed clientele was enjoyable ... everyone trying to "out pretend" each other. What a hoot!
Pros: None-Skip it!
Cons: Bad Food, Bad Service, Very loud

Steaks prepared to perfection and some of the freshest fish I've ever had in the midwest. The Yellow fin tuna was absolutely perfect and the fresh oysters were great. The chef doesn't cover the flavor of the meat by drenching it in sauce. Food is very expensive but well worth it. Same goes for wines by the glass, but where else can you get a glass of Opus One? Bottle prices were on par with most good restaurants and selection is great.
Pros: Wine List, Service, Steak & Seafood
Cons: Expensive, Atmosphere

AG's has THE best burger going! Steaks are great, and the BBQ shrimp is awesome. The crab cakes, sandwiches, potatoes...I could go on and on. And they dont water down their drinks!! On the negative side, it is a bit crowed and noisy, and you gotta make reservations way in advance. But over all, you cant get a better burger for the money.
Pros: great food, good service, good drinks
