Scrumptious food, excellent service, relaxing atmosphere - all at a modest price
by MsElaineES
I have enjoyed every meal here. I'm not an expert on Indian food, but I have eaten at several Indian restaurants in this city, and I often seek out Indian food when I'm out of town. The food here is on par with others. The service has been great. I have never been asked for a tip as some of the reviews here suggest, but I have always left a good tip because I was more than satisfied with the food and the service. I must say, though, that I may not be typical in what I expect from the waiters. Here, they do not paste on a phony smile constantly and try to have conversations me as if I am their newest best friend - which I find extraordinarily annoying at many establishments. I enjoy someone who is friendly, but not overbearingly so. I also appreciate being allowed to relax and enjoy my desert, coffee or tea after my dinner without someone hovering over me waiting to clean my table. The waiters here are courteous and tend to the needs of the patrons promptly. They answer any questions about the menu and make informed recommendations when asked to do so. I'll be back again and again.
Great indian food
by briandaly
My family and I have been a regular at the India Palace. Their food is delicious and their buffet is comparable in price to other buffets. I love the view and for the most part service is great. Highly recommended to anyone who loves to try different cultural foods.
- Pros: Great ambience and romantic. Comparable prices for Indian cuisine
- Cons: Difficult to get to
Best Indian in St. Louis (not saying much, but it is pretty good)
by tomerac
Ihave been a lover of Indian Food for years, but until I visited the Indian Palace a couple of weeks ago, I had never had a decent Indian dish in St. Louis. My wife and I had the Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Tikka Masala. I can't recommend anything else, since I haven't tried them yet, but our food was excellent. The service was good, although our waiter didn't seem to speak much English (they sent a substitute). The view of the runways was fun, too.
- Pros: Great Vindaloo and Tikka Masala, fun view of runways
- Cons: Waiters were courteous, but not all that friendly (I didn't see one smile even once)
Food quality going down
by gkash
With opening of more Indian restaurants in St. Louis, you'd expect the quality and service to get better with competition but it's going in the opposite direction. The food is definitely not as good as it once was. Infact, on our last visit to the restaurant, we thought the food was stale. Definitely not recommended any more. There are better choices for Indian food now.
- Pros: good ambience and view
- Cons: Food quality, unprofessional service
Very Nice
by elmedina
My boyfriend and I go to a different restaurant every weekend. We ate at expensive ones (Tony?s) to the very cheap local ones. I just got back home from the Indian Palace. I was very pleased with the service from the beginning to the end. I can see that some people are compaining of being asked for tip, We were not, but we always leave 20%. Before ordering the food, we had some questions and they were answered in the best way possible. I am a high critic when it comes to food and it is very hard to please me; tonight I cleaned out my plate :) We keep a journal of the restaurants we have been to and have our own ratings. This restaurant made the list of the ones to go to again.
waiters are very nice
by pivouwitz
We eat here often with our two disabled children and have never had a problem with the waiters and have never been asked for a tip. My daughter hugs the head waiter every visit and he responds warmly. I was shocked to see this here. Their breads are great appitizers are good not overly fond of the fried food but chicken is super. We have never had a bad meal here. Korma is super while my husband favors the curry. We always order too much eat too much and take home something. Kashmeri Nan (SP) is a great sweet bread with nuts and cherries. Lunch is good if you like buffet. What may be precieved as problems may be cultural differances.
- Pros: great food
Rude waiters
by iluvstl
I have dined at this place many times. It's always a deja vu. The waiter are very rude. They can't wait to get rid of you. Food is great. View is nice. Waiters needs some extenssive attitude adjusments.
Waiters
by amit_29in
Food is excellent, environment is fantastic....waiters!!!! they are pathetic..all they do is ask you for tips..thats what they are more interested in. A tip is something given voluntarily or beyond obligation usually for some service. It is not really a must for me to tip a waiter. This is happened to me the 3rd time by the same waiter. They follow us to the elevators just to receive a tip. This is beyond limits. I do not think it is a good restaurant to dine with a large group since i would feel embarassed when a waiter comes asking to tip him more than what he deserves!
Love this place!

What a great restaurant! We've just discovered it. The atmosphere is the best - one of the most fun restaurants in town. We had their lunch buffet and will return for sure!
Watch 747s land while digging into some saag paneer.

The Scene
The 11th floor of an airport hotel in North County is hardly the place you'd expect to find a good Indian restaurant. Then again, maybe dining while overlooking the runways provides just the right karma necessary for a great Indian meal. The first thing you're apt to notice as you step off the elevator is the bizarre decor, which mixes and matches the best of classic Indian with tiki-hut plush. As strange as that may sound, the two diametrically opposed styles meld harmoniously--very soothing. Make sure to get a window seat on the north side if you want to watch the planes take off and land.
The Food
While the menu doesn't differ greatly from other Indian restaurants', the quality sets India Palace apart from the pack. Fish tikka masala is particularly good, and the prawns vindaloo will surely make you breathe fire. The menu also includes lots of tandoori specialties, lamb, goat and vegetables.
