HORRIBLE FIRST IMPRESSION!!!

by elfgirl1981

This was our first visit to this restaurant. We called ahead to see what the parking situation was and they told us the restaurant has a private parking area for patrons and street parking if that was full. When we got there, there was a $10 charge to park in their lot (and no available street parking due to a ball game). I personally was very excited to get a Muffuletta which is listed on their website on their menu. I'm not big on Cajun food, so this really was the only thing I wanted to get from there. It was my birthday so we had a party of 6 and needed a minute to look at the menu. The waitress came back to our table several times and never mentioned anything that they didn't have. When we tried to order Muffulettas, we were then informed that they didn't have the bread so they couldn't make them. I asked the waitress if we could have one on a different kind of bread, she went to check and came back telling me they now had none of the ingredients needed to make a Muffuletta. We decided to leave since it was my birthday and I didn't like anything else on the menu. Our drinks (that we had ordered as soon as we came in) cost us $18. So we spent a total of $48 to spend a few minutes in their restaurant and didn't even get to eat the food. The owner (who was standing 10 feet away from our table) didn't think it was neccessary to come over and apologize himself....he sent the waitress over with a very condescending "apology" stating that they are a family owned business and they are more busy than usual (there were MANY empty tables around us at lunch time) and therefore couldn't be prepared to have enough food. Not to mention the fact that they have been around for at least a decade because their website has reviews from 1999. They should be prepared for the large baseball crowds as this is a standard in St. Louis. And they should be prepared for familys to come out to eat on Sundays. I thought they were very rude and not willing to even try to please their customers. They said they are "constantly trying to adjust to the new crowds so they can do better for the next time we come in". Well I'm sorry but....I spent $48 and didn't even get to have food!!! No way am I ever stepping foot in this place again!

  • Pros: NO IDEA
  • Cons: BAD SERVICE

great Cajun theme

by longrod21

The crawfish bisque was probably the most authentic I've had and though I prefer catfish with a cornmeal (not flour) it was still very good. overall, I think it was very good food. the real test of a cajun restuarant is the gumbo and etoufee, but I will be back to try that. repeat customer!

outside seating wasnt that comfortable, but thats part of the charm of eating bayou food. sometimes the smell of the city will get to you, but nothing that can not be overlooked.

BOB is great

by dougbax

Was driving downtown and ran across this great bar..i sat at the outside bar located on their patio, they also have a nice inside bar. The bartender sheila was great as was the ice cold beer and the grilled chicken grinder (i will try the cajun/creole next time i visit), the live music at 5.45pm on a thursday was also a plus. I will be going back most likely sometime next week after work. Watch out for the cards game as i hear it can get very crowded before and after.

  • Pros: Good food and beer
  • Cons: The barstools at the outside bar made me feel like i was 4 feet tall sitting at the bar

Fun bar and very good cajun restaurant.

by dweebe

Broadway Oyster Bar (BOB) is a wonderful place to have a good time. The best part of the place is the outside patio. With a variety of cajun and blues bands the place is always hopping.

Above average cajun food should be checked out early in the evening before the bar business get rolling.

  • Pros: Good times.
  • Cons: Sometimes crowded., Noisy.

open mic

by veldezjett

I have been able to sit in with the Soulard Blues Band on Monday nights and have also gained a lot of knowledge, respect and friends of the music they offer. Monday nights in the patio are outstanding. Simply sitting underneath the stars and hearing the soothing sands of local talents who come together to display, combine and improve their craft is the most fun way to spend a night just after witnessing another Cardinal victory.

  • Pros: music, crowd , music
  • Cons: space, parking, drink size

Catch local blues music while feasting on Cajun and Creole cuisine at this popular patio spot.

by Contributor

In Short
Enthusiastic Cardinals fans drop by this funky, character-filled hangout just south of Busch Stadium for Cajun cooking before or after Cards games. Live local and national blues bands are featured on the patio seven nights a week, rain or shine; when it's cold, they retreat indoors to a space the size of a shoebox.

Dance on the tables

by mikljonarch

The last Tab Benoit show at the BOB was outstanding, perhaps the best blues experience I've had. Raining outside so the crowd was forced inside where you stepped on the toes of your newest friends. A little dancing on the tables and stools, and Tab Benoit rocked the night away! And the outdoor stage can't be beat during the 10 months it is mostly available-- even during our comfortable St. Louis summers.

Great Outdoor Deck!

by STL_Girl

Although I have never been inside Broadway Oyster Bar, I love going after Cardnial games. The deck is perfect for late spring to early fall weather. The blues bands are always great and the drinks are flowing!
