Buyer beware! They over charged my credit card! horrible food

by jwhit2

I ordered food and drinks after a couple of hours I requested the bill. They added drinks to my order that I didnt drink I kept track of my purchased and they overcharged me. During the economy this is the last thing I need! My food was also not warm. I will never return to this establishment it has gone downhill!

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: over chagered my credit card

Cafe Napoli, Bad food but good service, not worth the price.

by goodtime34

I took my wife to Cafe Napoli for Valentine's day. The fish tasted horrible, like rubber and my wife's steak was undercook and not prepared right. the place looks cool but the meal was horrible. if you want something authentic you are better off going to the "Hill". I will not come back to this place!

  • Pros: nice bathrooms
  • Cons: Horrible food not worth the money bad parking

Great food and customer service!!

by msstatic

I had a dinner party at Cafe Napoli last October for my birthday and it was the best dining experience I had ever had!! Our server, Jerome, was knowledgeable, friendly and very accomodating. The food was soooooo good. Our total bill was very expensive, but everyone agreed that it was worth it.

I went back again last week, 9/2/08, with a few friends and had yet another wonderful experience. I spent about $70 on my antipaste, entree, and 3 drinks but again, it was well worth it. My beef tenderloin (one of the specials for the night) was delicious. I normally order my meat cooked medium well but the server suggested I try it medium. I was skeptical at first but once I took my first bite I was made into a believer. This place is wonderful. I just made a reservation for my birthday party next month. I would love to make this a yearly tradition.

sidenote:

if you get water, do not get lemons to go with it. The sliced lemon arrangement they will bring you cost $5.95.

  • Pros: ambience, service, food
  • Cons: cost of lemons,

The food is very good and reasonably priced. The outside eating area is set up nicely. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Good food and atmosphere, so so price

by jamesaguilar

I had the Veal Picatta, which was excellent, and my date seemed to enjoy the pasta of the day, which was some sort of seafood combination. The setting is beautiful, but the people in the restaurant were noisy. Other than that, nothing to complain about but the price tag, which is steep for a college student.

  • Pros: Nice, dim lit decor, Excellent food, Good service
  • Cons: Noisy people, Expensive

Customer is always right

by elliotschiffer

I ordered a steak medium rare and the server brought out a raw piece of meat that had been "pre-seared" the meat was not even warm and bloody inside. When I finally caught the server, he did not apologize but simply said "give me a second on that." He brought out my steak, in two pieces now, again raw in the middle and a little warmer on the outside. I complained and he lectured me about what a medium rare steak is infront of the 6 people at my table. I will never again dine at Napoli because even though the food is decent as is the atmosphere, they have no idea of how to respect a customer.

Deee-licious

by hogie1975

There was little room to loiter inside on a cold and rainy evening in January because the bar/dining area was full of patrons. When we were seated, we were greeted and given the daily specials, which all sounded wonderful. However, at a mid-scale Italian restaurant, it's always a good idea to get the Veal Parmigiana. It was nothing less than delightful. My date had the tortellini, also very good.

  • Pros: Easy access, Wide Variety
  • Cons: Small Dining area

Clayton's take on Southern Italian.

by Contributor

What you'll find
The restaurant offers radiant Southern Italian dishes that showcase simple preparation and presentation of fresh, seasonal ingredients. The salads and antipasti are among the best examples of this culinary philosophy.

Food
Pasta is cooked al dente then tossed with sauce in the authentic Italian style. Portion sizes are titanic, so you might want to ask for half of your order to be wrapped in the kitchen, even before it's delivered to your table. The menu offers chicken, veal and beef entrees and, while these dishes are unquestionably well prepared, pasta and seafood are what the kitchen does best.

Service
Mixed. The seasoned servers are a bit aloof, but they get the job done post haste. The neophytes are eager to please, but they are still plodding along the learning curve. Fortunately, the vets help the rookies get up to speed, and the result is a winning team.

Ambiance
Cafe Napoli has a lovely dining room, but the trendy crowd can be rather boisterous after work and on weekends. This rollicking throng might be just what you're looking for. But if it's not, ask for a seat on the patio if the weather is warm.

Wine Room Partier

by cmquincy2003

The best restaurant for upscale-casual dining. For a group of 6-10, the wine room is a very entertaining time. The food is top-notch and authentically Italian....Thoroughly enjoy the entire experience each and every time we dine at "Napoli".

  • Pros: Great Food, Friendliness, Wine List
  • Cons: Parking, Space between seats, Getting Reservations

14 years and still great stuff

by stl532fav

I have been dining at Cafe Napoli since I was roughly 16. Now that I'm 30, and no longer live in Stl, I always make it a point to stop by there when Im in town. The owner(and his family) always makes me and my guest feel at home and the food is always great. I live in NY now, and the plethera of Italian restaurants is at my beckon and call, to have a restaurant like this stand out, year after year is something to be noted. This is a great place!

  • Pros: Great Food!, Wine Room, Pasta
  • Cons: Parking
