Sneezy Bartender

by abmybabies at Citysearch

We have gone to the Webster Groves locations several times and it has been fine. The service is usually not wonderful but it is about the norm for a pub. The service we had was fine and the food was good but there was one disturbing thing. The Bartender either had nasal allergies or a cold and was constantly sneezing. Normally it would be not big deal but he never covered his mouth or washed his hands. He just kept walking around sneezing and sniffling. I am immune compromised so it is kind of a big deal for me to get sick. It is also a big deal for me to see people so casual about spreading germs. I even think that washing your hands is a requirement for food establishments. So I say, stay home if you are sick or use a Kleenex and wash you hands!!

  • Pros: Good Food and Beer
  • Cons:  Employees have Poor Sanitary Habits

Overall Horrible Experience

by sparkygriz at Citysearch

The first beer I ordered off the menu, they no longer have. So I ordered another beer. It was warm and only 3/4 full because the keg was out. The server said they would give me more later but never did. I was charged for the beer anyway. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, but tasted quite the opposite. My entree was served nothing like described on the menu. The garlic mashed potatoes were extremely bland. Worst of all, my wife ordered the pub burger at medium (voted best burger in RFT in 2007). It came out very well done. It was dry as a bone. If this is the best burger in STL, then STL must be the worst place in the world to get a burger! All of the food that we got was below average. The server rarely came around and was very stoic when he did talk to us. Overall, this was a horrible dining experience and we will never go back. The crazy thing is, my wife and I rarely complain about restaurants and we both walked away from Llywelyn's angry and out $50+.

  • Pros: Outdoor Dining, no waiting on Friday night
  • Cons: Food, Service, Parking, Overpriced for what we got

HORRIBLE SERVICE - GOOD FOOD

by spogeo40 at Citysearch

We decided to check out this place despite the reviews here. We should have listened. I thought the food was good but the service was awful. The menu had a lot of options for a pub. If you go for the food, you probably won't be disappointed. If you go for the food and the service, you will be disappointed.

  • Pros: Good food, nice portions
  • Cons: Bad service

STAY AWAY!!!

by libbylibbylibby at Citysearch

Extremely poor value for the money spent. Twice I have been to the Webster Groves restaurant and the last time (day after Christmas) not only was my silverware dirty, but my husband and I watched a rodent run along the top of the window sill next to our table! NEVER AGAIN. AVOID!

  • Pros: Not crowded
  • Cons: Poor quality of cleanliness

Avoid planning group functions in W.G.

by tlslp1 at Citysearch

AVOID RESERVING THE PARTY ROOM AT THE WEBSTER GROVES LOCATION!!!! I made reservations for my November wedding reception in August. I spoke with mgmt. both in person & via phone on several occasions between Aug. & Nov. One week prior to my event, they "lost" my reservation. Not only would they not accommodate us elsewhere in the restaurant, they were completely "flippant" about the entire situation. We had chosen the W.G. Llewelyn's for our wedding party b/c it is where we met. Unfortunately, we'll never visit any of their restaurants again.

  • Cons: Incompentent Mgmt. / Horrible service

Irish pub

by pphan2004 at Citysearch

Fairly limited menu, but it is a pub so expect your regular pub fare with a few added bonuses. Decent burgers, great ruebens, excellent seasoned steak fries, and steaks.

Good selection of beers, but hey it's an Irish pub just drink your Guiness and enjoy your atmoshere.

Staff is unpredictable...sometimes nice sometimes down right mean...but hey, remember Irish pub and deal with it.

  • Pros: plenty of parking, good food
  • Cons: , staff concerns

Llywelyn's Celtic charm is authentic and franchise-free.

by Contributor at Citysearch

Bud Town
In St. Louis, not many bartenders know how to pour a proper Guinness, but Llywelyn's does a pretty good job on the head. The beer menu breaks down the thickest of lagers: Scotland, Wales and Ireland (for the pale-ale crowd that translates to something like muddy, muddiest and Mississippi sludge consistencies).

Celtic Comfort
Llywelyn's is a great place for a ho-hum night when the only thing you want is peace in a public place (and maybe some chips). This two-room pub brings in the pub-food crowd (especially to the sidewalk tables) for Welsh potato chips and the steak and cheese sandwich with fried onions. (Expect a severe tummy coma after this meal.) Then again, downing stout might be dinner for some.
