Movies in a Hallway

by stevenhedda

When you fork over the cash to see a movie, you want an experience that will rival what you could experience with your own TV in your own living room. Watching a movie at The Chase was like watching television in a hallway. The theaters are long and narrow and the screens are small. Our chairs were hard folding chairs (the movie we saw had apparently been oversold and those not seated 15 minutes before the movie started were seated in these folding chairs). Sure, the hotel is nice, but I didn't go to The Chase to spend a night but to see a movie. The only thing that made the evening endurable was that the theater concession stand offers beer and wine--apparently to dull the ache in your rear-end from the hard seats and the strain in your eyes from trying to see the small screen.

  • Pros: beer and wine
  • Cons: , hard seats, small screens

Excellent

by allenej

It is a great place for adults to watch movies. An overwhelming majority of the patrons are college students & older. They have student prices, traditional candy, non-traditional candy, coffee, wine, Ted Drewes, Frapaccinos, beer, and more. It has a wonderful atmosphere, and parking in the garage can be validated. I would see every movie there if I could.

This place in the lobby of the Chase Park is from another, more elegant era.

The Scene
When you walk in, the place doesn't look at all like a movie theater. In fact, it's a bit tricky to identify the ticket window unless there are others purchasing tickets. After you get your tickets, you wend your way through the hotel lobby, then enter a fantastically beautiful marbled hallway, complete with plants and plush seating areas.

Back to Basics
The viewing rooms themselves are no great shakes. They're small, and the seats aren't the most comfortable. But this theater gets some excellent movies that you're not likely to see playing at the local googolplex. Additionally, the Central West End location makes this an ideal place to catch dinner and a movie.

My Two Cents Worth!

by wings

I love it! It is classy! It is my favorite place to see a movie. The Chase is the only movie cinema I frequent. The people are warm and kind. The popcorn is the best! I am a popcorn critic and this popcorn it outstanding and the butter is real. I feel safe and secure - I always valet, no matter what time of day I attend. I like choices and at the Chase I can have a glass of wine OR bring my drink in from the bar if I have been waiting. Most people who attend are respectable of others. Having a cinema in the Chase was an excellent idea and I am very glad to have this as a choice of things to do when I'm looking to entertain friends from out of town or just needing to get out of the house. God's Speed, Angie

  • Pros: excellent popcorn, valet parking, wine/beer

Nice theater, good location, plenty of food nearby, don't get lost finding the theater from the ticket office.
