The smell of roasting coffee is the best advertisement the store's owners could ask for.

The Scene
Shaw's Coffee Limited opened its doors in 1999 after a painstaking renovation of its storefront space on the Hill. The room has a pressed-tin ceiling and warm, glossy hardwood floors. Cozy window seats upholstered in whimsical coffee-themed fabric are tucked into sunny nooks. While the ambience is truly lovely, seating inside is a bit cramped, so you might want to take your java with you.

The Food
Shaw's has the usual, from Sumatra to Jamaican Blue Mountain, all roasted in a great gleaming roaster, whose paddles stir the redolent beans in slow, rhythmic revolutions. Glass cake domes display their wares in a tantalizing row atop the long counter. Choose from muffins, croissants, scones, bagels, pastries, crumb cakes and chocolate chip, oatmeal or peanut butter cookies.

Shaw Coffee

Shaw Coffee has the best coffee in St. Louis hands down. The coffee is roasted in the store and, as a result, is super fresh. The italian roast makes the best espresso I have ever tasted.

The management seems to take the effort to make sure things are done right. If quality is important to you, this is the place.

The prices are comperable to other coffee shops, but the product is much better, making for a better value.

Great coffee

Just went here twice in July '02 and the service was

quite good and the coffee was great. Also bought

fresh ground coffee that was very good. I think

the past complaints have been taken care of quite well. This and Kaldi's are the greatest!
