Our pizzas were delivered covered in a processed cheese product that St. Louisans foundly call Provel. This sliced product remotely resembles cheese in appearance, yet its taste and consistency is closer to melted plastic wrap. The pizzas' traditional oven-baked crust was burned and the thin spread of sauce might have come from a Chef Boyardee home kit. Unable to finish a single slice, we called for the check and a couple of take-out boxes. The $65 tab was incredibly steep for such a miserable dining experience. Back at home, we tested the pizza on our indescriminating teens, who quickly tossed the pizza in the trash after a single taste. As our stomachs rumbled, we checked the Internet for some insight into the mystery of Provel and possible side-effects for injesting such an unnatural product. We were shocked to find that many restaurants on The Hill incorporate this mutation into their pasta dishes as well. Further research revealed, much to our relief, that Provel is rarely found outside St. Louis. In a way, this abomination has been quarantined to the city limits. I have resolved myself to help keep it that way. If the word of such a product being used in Italian cusine spread across the Atlantic, the international outcry would be deafening.

I have try many many restaurats and this one was the worst. knif was dirty, fork was uneven, lots of bread (hard, old) food fried and refried. but not only that they say the best seller is shrimp something, which was tons of butter and garlic...

This cannot be considered good food. The red sauce was bland & tasteless, pasta was mushy.. Salads were limp & too cold to have any flavor, the bread was boring like brown & serve rolls.... Unfortunately they seem to think serving you a large quantity of this unpalatable stuff makes up for the very poor quality, not in my book it dosent . It translates into having " a very poor opinion of your customer. " Who needs that when I am giving them my hard earned cash. Next time I will look for the Olive Garden in St Louis and at least have an edible meal.

Pros: parking , fast seating

Cons: caliber of food was poor

We have been going to Rigazzi's for over 30 years and still enjoy the dining experience in the restaurant. They provide a quality product for a reasonable price and despite the wait the dining is worth the wait. A good place for a family to go on a limited dining out budget.

Pros: Good value for your dollar

Cons: Sometimes have a long wait for a table due to volume of business

Rigazzi's is one of the best of the many excellant restaurants in St. Louis. I do not come into town without a visit to the friendliest place on The Hill. The food is wonderful, the service is incredible and you won't find a better tasting cocktail than when it's put in a fishbowl. As usual, can't wait to dine with you again. -ggd-

We went to Rigazzi's on a Saturday afternoon. When we arrived, it was not overly busy at all. We waited over 1 1/2 hours for our food and never did receive it. What we did get to eat (salads and drinks) was less than mediocre. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone! The staff is incredibly slow and rude.

I went to Rigazzi's on a Friday night with a bunch of buddies. Although there was a wait, it was well worth it. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. I had pasta arrabiata, and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. A couple of my buddies had pizza, and they loved it. The beer was cold, the service was good, and the food was well worth the wait. I recommend Rigazzi's to anyone looking for good Italian food at a reasonable price. I will certainly be back there soon.

Pros: Food, Service, Beer

Cons: Wait Time

We've been to many Italian restaurants around town, and this one ranks at the bottom. It's sad when we would pick the Olive Garden over this place. Though the menu is large, all nine people in our party disliked their food: including pizza, pasta ala lombardi, chicken parmesan, toasted ravioli, and shrimp scampi. They state that the pizza was ranked top ten in the nation back in 1995; if true, aliens must have abducted the chef and installed an imposter in his place. Lastly, our waiter was rude, and the overall service was poor.

Pros: prompt seating

Cons: Food, Service

A group of co-workers met on a week night for a get-together and small wedding shower. When I arrived at the restaurant, the host couldn't even tell me where my other co-workers where sitted. I had to walk in the back and find them myself. Our party was sitted against a side wall where all of the servers used as a main means of bringing out everyone's food. We were lucky not to have anything spilled on us. We ordered approximately 7 different dishes and not one of us enjoyed them. The food was plentiful but bland tasting. I ordered spaghetti & meatballs and my food was put on a plate that was too small. Our server did wait on us promptly and the food was brought out quickly but we had to ask for additional bread and drinks. Not recommended!!

Pros: Plenty of parking, large dining room, moderate prices

Cons: Bland food, no large groups, crowded seating

I went to Rigazzi's for the first time last Thursday and I have to say I was impressed. I had the chicken parmasean and it was very good. As far as the prices, it's about average for any nice place you go in St. Louis. The parking is rather ghetto though.

Pros: food, service

Cons: ghetto parking area

Post-fire, the new dining room is brighter and shinier, but the crowd remains the same.  See the full editorial review.

Drink It Down

That fishbowl on the sign outside (and in the hands of many of your fellow diners) holds a whopping 32 ounces of beer.
