Nearly 80 soothing acres showcasing St. Louis' best botany.

In Short
In the spring, tulips bring to mind a Dutch landscape. Step inside the Climatron and enter a South American jungle (extreme humidity included). Spring and summer bring lots of weddings. Reach a Zen-like state at Seiwa-en, the largest Japanese garden in the Western Hemisphere. In the Weeping Cherry garden, shapes raked in the gravel represent nature's water-and-land relationships. In the spirit of Shinto, imagine that every flower and tree embodies a personality from another lifetime.

The Botanical Gardens aren't free. There is a small fee to pay at the entrance, unless you're a member. It's a beautiful place in the springtime and at Christmastime.
- Pros: parking, variety, history
- Cons: cost, concessions=commercia

I used to live in the St. Louis area and this was always one of my favorite places to go. It is just beautiful there. The Japanese gardens are wonderful and the scented garden is my favorite place. If you live in St. Louis and have never been go if you are visting I think that this should be on your list of places to go.
- Pros: Good Parking, Inexpensive
- Cons: Get Crowded
Beautiful in all Seasons

The Missouri Botanical Garden is on my "must-visit" list of things to do in St. Louis every time I go there. There are large, showy beds of peonies, tulips, pansies, roses, iris, and lilies when these flowers are in season. There are many fountains, there is a large Japanese garden section which is particularly beautiful in the winter. There is a building and associated garden plots devoted to the home gardener, and of course, a gift shop from which can be purchased specimens of many plants. The Missouri Botanical Garden is an enduring attraction for me because it is always changing and there is always something new to see.
- Pros: variety, beauty
- Cons: too many memorials, sometimes hot, sometimes crowded
