Great bar - bad location
by susan312
The Way Out Club is a great place to have fun. It is small and crowded. The wait to get a drink can be long. But the atmosphere makes up for that. It is like being in the basement of your house when you were a kid listening to music or playing games. The negative side is there is no parking and the neighborhood isn't the greatest. Besides 7-11 everything else is deserted and even though it is pretty safe it doesn't feel that way. Even thought the cons outweigh the pros, I am rating it just above average because I think it is worth checking out.
- Pros: atmosphere
- Cons: parking
loud and obnoxious, bad location, no parking

loud and obnoxious atmosphere, poor choice of location, no parking available. Not recommended for anyone
Your parents would probably label the club as "too weird," but that's its charm.

The Scene
If only every club in St. Louis were as inviting and inspired as the Way Out Club, a well of creativity that provides up-and-coming local rock bands with not only a stage and sound system but a jukebox that houses their CDs and a tiny record label that releases them.
The Draw
All over the map--punk rock, improvisational hippie noodling, acid rock, alternative country--and, even if it's not exactly the most practiced and professional-sounding, it will most definitely be passionate. If you're not in the mood for music, you can sit in the front room and play Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots, watch a '50s B-movie on the television or talk poetry with owners Bob and Sherri.
close to perfection

If there are nightclubs in heaven, (there had damned well better be) they will resemble the Way Out Club. The music here is like the decor, eclectic and full of pleasant surprises. You're likely to hear some original music on any visit, whether from a new band playing out the first time, or a veteran band "coming home". The jukebox runs the gamut from Screamin' Jay to Motorhead with a substantial nod to the local scene. The drink selection varies from mega- to micro- brewers and distillers. Bar service here has the feel that you're among friends, they're not trying to fill your glass and send you on your way but rather they take time to share a few words and catch up with old friends and make new ones. This tries the patience of some, but I wouldn't have it any other way.By the way, they accept credit cards.
- Pros: original, friendly, fun
- Cons: not next door
Way Out There

By far the best and most interesting bar in st. louis. A great place to take friends or to meet new ones, The Way Out is unlike any other place in the midwest.
- Pros: different, nice selection, everyone welcome
- Cons: needs parking
Your among friends...

The Way Out Club is one of my all-time favorite St. Louis nightclubs. Bob and Sherri are wonderful. The ambience is brilliant and they book some of the best bands in St. Louis. Oh, and they have really good pizza, too. BUT, if it's crowded be prepared to wait a LONG time to get served at the bar. Also, they could really use a better sound system. Great bands deserve to be heard better! Also, the neighborhood surrounding the club is definitely rough and the history of vandalism should not be overlooked, so be sure to park at the Fuelman across the street (don't block the pumps, though) or in the lot at Hardee's, or along Jefferson. Do NOT park on the side streets... to do so is asking for trouble.
- Pros: Great ambience, Great bands, Friendly place
- Cons: Rough neighborhood, Poor sound system, No ad in the RFT?
Bob & Sherri make it great!

If you like good music, good people and a fun bar, you have to go here. The Way Out Club is truely a St. Louis landmark. If you love a good bloody mary... ask for Bob's.
The "Way Out" is "So In"

I really enjoyed the Way Out club - the place is clean, enjoyable, verbal, very cool atmosphere, definitely a lot of memorabilia that will take you "Way Back" in your childhood, like the "Rock'em, Sock'em" Robots - too cool - the music is great, the drinks are slammin', and the people are very real, if you get my meaning - it's a casual atmosphere, where you can let your hair fly! It's great!
- Pros: good prices, great music, great drinks
- Cons: location, not enough parking, doesn't stay open 24
