Cool store! Prices are outrageous :(

by SummyGirl

This is a very cool store. Lots of great items in wonderful condition but.....

I am obsessed with estate sales and garage sales. I find stuff like this all the time for pretty much 1/10 of the price. This sore is great if you have:

1> No spare time to search

2> Have tons of money to spend

3> Are too lazy to search around for stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I really did like this place but it was horribly overpriced. The set up of the store is fabulous, the items for sale are clean and in great condition and it's just plain fun to walk around. But,

since I like estate sales, craigslist and garage sales, I can find the items for a fraction of the price and have a lot more fun doing it.

  • Pros: This is definitely ONE STOP shopping.
  • Cons: Way too expensive for mere mortals.

Great place to find mid-century merchandise

by MsElaineES

TFA's new warehouse showroom on Morganford lets them really show off their great collection of 50's and 60's furniture and home accessories. The South Grand location still carries some nice furniture and other items for the home, but now has more room for vintage clothing and personal accessories. Get a pair of vintage eyeglasses and have your prescription lenses fit in them. They look fabulous and cost a lot less than new frames.

  • Pros: Fantastic selection of mid-century merchandise
  • Cons: Some items pricey

Very cool shopping experience.

by bijoubabe

Wow, everytime I visit this store it just seems to get better and better. One of the biggest changes they've made is opening a furniture showroom on Morganford. It's got lots of rooms decorated as they would be in someone's home and it really is a great source of ideas. Moving most of the furniture has allowed them store to expand their selection of vintage clothing to cover about half of the first floor, the selection is amazing especially in the men's department. My boyfriend, for the first time, spent more than I did just because he found so much to choose from. All of their clothes are in primo condition and their selection of vintage costume jewelry is huge. Great kitchen selection also, expecially the Pyrex bowls I love and the vintage linens are super. The staff is nice and very knowledgable. Highly recommend it to all as a great shopping experience.

  • Pros: Great selection of merchandise and it's all CLEAN, not something you always find in vintage stores.
  • Cons: Sometimes tough to park, but hey, it is South Grand.

A Vintage Oasis

The future antiques is a vintage paradise. If your a collector of anything kitschy, this is definitely the place to be. There is a TON to see, but the store is still clean and very charming. All the merchandise is clean and looks brand new, and the staff is very knowledgable and friendly. This is definitely the one stop shop for all your vintage needs.

  • Pros: Helpful staff, wide variety, clean

Vintage Heaven

by squirt2

I love the 50's & 60's and have visited and shopped at TFA for the past year finding all kinds of great items from coffee tables & a sofa to vintage clothes, old LP's and bar items. When I was looking for a particular set of glassware to finish out a set for my bar and they didn't have it they put me on their "Wish List". Two weeks later I got a call, they had found it, the price was the same as on EBay w/o the S&H charges (and I could touch it) and they would hold it for me if I was still interested. Talk about great customer service! They have been lots of changes lately and the organization (they are crammed with stuff) is better. If I can't find something I always ask because they can point it out after I have walked right past it.

  • Pros: Huge Selection, Helpful Staff, Affordable Prices
  • Cons: Huge Selection, Too Many Paint Colors

Total Retro Experience

by lostinthe50s

My stepdaughter and I came in from out of town to buy a few things and we were impressed by the prices and the amazng cleanliness of the store. The staff was knowledgable and friendly, we ended up furnishing her entire apartment here on a very tight budget. Yes, there were expensive things for serious collectors but there were also great bargains and the owner could not have been more helpful to us.

  • Pros: Great Selection, Very friendly staff, Great stores nearby

Fulfill your lounge lizard fantasies here.

A Little Something
Need a housewarming gift for a real cool cat? Looking for a wedding present that'll stand out from the crowd? Or maybe you just really liked those "Austin Powers" movies and want to bring some of the magic home. TFA can meet all those needs and more. Avocado princess phones reside next to vintage bar sets, plastic record players and even postcards. It's also got a small section of vintage clothing.

Major Additions
If you've got some major cash to spend, TFA's also got some rather impressive, not to mention expensive, vintage furniture. From minimalist vinyl couches to complete '50s kitchen sets, TFA has just the right piece to give your place a dose of hepcat hipness. If you're on a budget, the kooky '60s lamps, wall clocks and art can liven up your space without draining your bank account.

Kitchen Heaven

by Liveoakin

The store has a great selection of kitchen kitsch that is beautifully displayed and reasonably priced. Their selection of dishes and kitchen linen make this a wonderful place to shop for wedding gifts and a gourmet cook wood find all kinds of interesting things to look at. I have found lots of fun things every time I have shopped here, and have even bought furniture and vintage kitchen appliances. With space that is too crowded to easily find what I am looking for and a staff that is too busy to be bothered by the likes of me I have sometimes left annoyed and empty handed.

  • Pros: great selection, beautiful displays, fair prices
  • Cons: unfriendly, can't be bothered, arrogant
