Very Good, But Gone

Thai Seafood Cafe was very good; I enjoyed several delicious meals there. Alas, it closed a while ago.
A standout among the sea of Thai places on Delmar Boulevard.

The Scene
Thai Seafood Cafe sits just off the Loop next to a martial-arts school on Eastgate Avenue. You can hear classes in progress while dining, but it's more entertaining than distracting. The decor--dark red booths and chairs, muted mauve walls, Thai art and artifacts throughout--is far more sophisticated than at the other Thai places in the neighborhood.
The Food
Thai classics are done very well here. Thom yum goong soup contains plenty of lemon grass and large shrimp, the curries all have a surprising depth of flavor and the pad thai goong (made with shrimp instead of chicken) is consistently good. As the cafe's name indicates, the menu is heavy with seafood, so if you're in the mood to try something different, opt for fish. The whole deep-fried red snapper is a solid choice, served crispy and topped with a spicy-sweet sauce. If you're not a fish fan, don't sweat it: There are plenty of beef and chicken dishes to choose from.

I've never have any better dish than here! They are very friendly and the food is fabulous. This is the real test of Thai food.
