Star Clipper is the finest comic and graphic novel retailer in the metro area. They have the largest store in St. Louis and the best selection in St. Louis. I'm not the only one who agrees: Star Clipper was awarded the prestigious Eisner Award for comic store retailing at the San Diego Comic-Con, which means that at the biggest comic convention in the world, Star Clipper was named the best comic book store in the world. We're lucky to have this shop in St. Louis. When you walk into the spacious and well lit store, you see immediately that this isn't your normal comic shop. They have aisles and aisles of trade paperbacks, artist reference books, art design books. manga, indy and foreign books, as well as a comprehensive selection of the American superhero genre. The store looks expensive, but they offer discounts and frequent purchaser clubs. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. On the off chance they don't have something you're looking for, they can usually get it for you quickly. Their comic selection is outstanding. Since they are well known in the industry, publishers are lining up to get them to carry their books, so you'll always find the newest, hippest and most interesting titles as well as all the mainstream and top-tier publisher works. Check this place out - you'll be amazed.
Pros: Vast selection, knowledgeable staff, discounts and frequent purchaser club.
Cons: Don't carry back issues older than a few years.

There is simply no better place in St. Louis to get your comics, graphic novels and cool collectibles. Located in the U City Loop, it's a clean, inviting and comfortable store. It's huge, has the greatest selection of graphic novels and manga I've ever seen (one of the employees told me there were more than 8000 different titles in stock at any given time) and they have all the current comic titles. They also carry cool toys, Japanese candy, imported toys and hard to find vinyls. Check this place out, you won't be disappointed. After you've been in Star Clipper, you'll never want to set foot in a "normal" comic shop again!
