Okinawan Karate-Do Academy (OKDA) is the best place to learn traditional karate in St. Louis. The cirriculum is well-rounded and includes classes in self-defense, forms, point sparring, and weapons. A lot of schools I've visited don't give instruction in all of these areas. The forms and weapons practiced at this dojo have been handed down from the originators of the karate in Okinawa. Here you can practice karate the way it was intended. There are lots of instructors, daytime and evening classes, and lots of good students in the class. Pros: Great way to get in shape, learn self-defense, good group of students and intstructors
Cons: Costs money, but safey and confidence are invaluable
