I love Stonewater Spa and Salon in Frontenac. I just moved to the St. Louis area and was having trouble finding something that would cut my hair the way I wanted it. I would highly recommend Misty to cut, style, color you hair. She's great. The rest of the staff is great also, always have a smile and are very friendly, but Misty by far is the best!
Pros: Friendly, nice

The Green Door it ain't. That was a great place before a new company took over using the name Stonewater Spa. My daughter, 23 years old, used a large part of a gift certificate yesterday 9-29-07 at the Stonewater Spa in Frontenac, MO, for haircut, full highlighting and eye makeup lesson. I find it inexcusable that she has been depressed and in tears ever since! What a shame - and at a very expensive cost. HAIR: 1. The person who cut her hair is Katie or Katy. My daughter TOLD her she wanted it cut no shorter than 1" below her shoulder so she can put it up frequently. The stylist's first wack with the scissors was above the shoulder; it doesn't even reach the shoulder, much less 1" below! When she tries to put it up now, there's just teensy sprouts of hair sticking out of the ponytail and it won't stay up well enough. THE EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE TRAINED TO LISTEN TO CUSTOMERS' REQUESTS. That's the first commandment of any hairdresser before a cut. 2. My daughter was never asked about highlighting, so she assumed they would put in a lot of blonde, like she obviously had when she arrived. To her horror, the stylist put in a LOT of lowlights, making it much darker than she has ever had it. They evidently had a full schedule yesterday, so she was passed around from one person to another to lighten what they had done. She is still miserable in that it is much darker than she wanted. THE EMPLOYEE SHOULD HAVE ASKED HER IF SHE WANTED LOWLIGHTS AT ALL. That's another first commandment of hairdressers before a "highlight" treatment. EYE MAKEUP LESSON: This was nothing more than could be found in a magazine article; it was not personalized enough to validate the expenditure. Guess we'll be using the gift cards we have only for manicures or pedicures - anything but hair and makeup.

I used to go here when it was the Green Door Spa, but it seems to have lost its personality and spazazz, Chief complaint is high staff turnover, the good people I used to go to have all left. New prices are much higher and session time has been reduced for massage. 45-50 minute massage, instead of the old 60 full minutes plus some, oh well. ... Old time Facial ladies are still there and they are decent.
Pros: easy parking, can do some other shopping in mall, see a movie etc.
Cons: hi prices, small session times, inconsistent

While I have yet to experience the spa, the salon is absolutely wonderful! Everyone is very friendly, and the place itself is very nice and clean. Azeza cut and styled my hair, and I couldn't be happier. She was very thorough, taking her time to make sure the cut was perfect! I will definitely go back!
