The best breakfast in town!
by stanistheman
Uncle Bills is hands down the best breakfast in town! I love the pecan pancakes - reminds me of what my mom would make for us on sundays! You can't find pecan pancakes this good anywhere else. Uncle Bills is a st. louis tradition for my family and I think it should be for yours too!
- Pros: FOOD, friendly staff
Plate situation
by reddrank82
It is a bit smokey in there, and I myself smoke! I have been going there for years- and what bothers me the most is when your group orders something, the waitress will stack the plates all across his/her arm and when you get your food, there is a big indention in your pancakes, toast, hashbrowns.. whatever- of the plate they had stacked on top of it when they were walking it to your table. I HATE IT. It is disgusting that they had the bottom of a plate on my food. I dont know about you, but i have worked in restaurants and I know what goes on in a kitchen, and I do not want the bottom of the plate on my food. Also, they cannot add sometimes. My family orders the EXACT same thing every single time we go there and the check is different every time- LOL. One time we even went with with a friend and told them to split the check. The split checks together added up to 20 dollars more than the original check actually was. That was the last straw for me. It is crazy that they can not even get my check right- at any given time.
- Pros: good tasting food
- Cons: check will be different every time, they will stack plates leaving a big imprint on your food

BEST BACON ANYWHERE; AMERICAN CAFE-FRIENDLY
by jgraves41
FIRST, FORGET THE "SMOKEY" COMMENT. IT'S NOT, UNLESS YOU SIT IN THE SMOKING SECTION, AVAILABLE ON WEEK DAYS ONLY.....NO SMOKING WEEKENDS. IF YOU ASK THEY'LL SEAT YOU AS FAR FROM THE SMOKING AREA AS POSSIBLE, AND THERE'S LOTS OF SEATING. BUT, CROWDS ARE POSSIBLE ANY A.M. AT THIS POPULAR 24 HR. SISTER TO THE SOUTH KINGSHIGHWAY ORIGINAL. GREAT BREAKFASTS MENU WITH SOLID ALL-AMERICAN LUNCHES, DINNERS, DESSERTS. BEEN GOING HERE A.M.'s AT LEAST 2 TIMES WEEKLY SINCE IT OPENNED XX YEARS AGO. OFTEN SEE LOCAL CELEBRITIES.
- Pros: WORLDS BEST BACON, GREAT BREAKFAST, GOOD VALUES
- Cons: SOMETIMES QUITE CROWDED
A Great Breakfast Hangout!

Best Potato Pancakes I've ever had. The portions were large, the food was prepared right and the experience was positive. My kids liked the food there as well, and they never agree on anything. Even bought a t-shirt advertising the place for a friend back home named Bill. Hesitated a little on the front end as it feels like you're walking into an old bar/tavern (complete with the neon sign out front). We were greeted warmly once inside and the server we had was very good and very attentive. We were in a non-smoking area and were fine there. Would definitely visit again next trip to St. Louis.
Mediocre, at best

Ordinary food in a not-so-clean environment. Also a bit over-priced for the quality. It's convenient and service is prompt, but I'd prefer to eat where the floors are clean, the air is clean, and the staff doesn't smoke a few feet from my table.
- Cons: Smoke-filled air, dirty floors
Really good food and value
by ccrandall55
The food is really good and the price is right. They have GREAT hot chocolate on those cold winter nights.
- Pros: Good , Priced right, Good parking
- Cons: Smoke travels
It's an institution, albeit a crowded, smoke-filled one.

The Scene
It's 2am on a balmy Saturday, and convivial throngs of young people banter exuberantly as they wait outside the building. Are they lining up to buy Alanis Morrisette tickets? Is a surprise appearance by Mick Jagger rumored? No, it's just a crowd of twenty-somethings hungry for a short stack after a long night of flirting, dancing and partying. Uncle Bill's Pancake House is the place to go when you don't want the night to end.
The Food
Breakfast is served round-the-clock, and fruit-smothered pancakes, Belgian waffles, crepes, bacon, sausage and ham are what most diners order. For a breakfast that's more like a dessert, try the chocolate Alaska, a generous scoop of ice cream laced with hot fudge perched atop chubby pancakes. The comely sour-cream-filled crepes are also a sweet treat. Youth, sleep deprivation and intoxicating aromas from the griddle combine to make most customers forget to count fat grams and just order what they like.

Place for late night munchies
by anlim2000
Pretty good food; one of the rare places open late at night; but pretty grimy and smokey.
