Terrible customer service~!!! Take your money somewhere else!
by missmayer123 at Citysearch
Okay, I am just a bridesmaid, but I have had the WORST experience with Ultimate Bride. First, using their "expert opinion," they made me buy a dress that was 2 sizes too big (according to the place I finally took my dress to get altered). At first I was going to get my dress altered at Ultimate Bride, but the first time I went in, they acted like I was a nuisance, and sent me on my way because I didn't have my shoes (even though on the phone before the appt., they said I didn't need them...). Then, I made an appointment for another try only to show up for my 2nd appt...and they were CLOSED!!! When I called to complain, the woman snickered a bit saying "this happens all the time..." WHAT? I finally picked up my dress and took it to another shop for alterations.
I paid a lot of money for that dress and am sure UB got a cut of that money. I am shocked by how they manage customers!!! By the way, the other bridesmaids AND the bride have all had trouble with them too; Don't go to UB if you want a pleasant wedding experience!!!!!! They really need to get it together!!
- Pros: none
- Cons: terrible customer service, sell faulty products, bad attitudes, no organization, dirty appearance
It Couldn't Get Any Worse

They delivered me a dress that was THREE sizes too big! If this kind of thing happens to you, don't take it back to Ultimate Bride for alterations because they are either making a LOT of mistakes with sizing, or they are wanting to get more money through alterations. The sales people were unfriendly, which can't make shopping for your dream dress enjoyable. Finally, the horrible service makes for a bad experience. I cannot understand how this place was voted best bridal salon in St. Louis. Avoid this place at all costs!
- Cons: Poor service, Bad attitudes of employees, Wrong size
Not impressed
by smith2005 at Citysearch
When I arrived, I filled out a questionaire of what I was looking for. As I filled it out, I thought, this will definitely help the woman assisting me get a really good idea of what I'm looking for. When I tried on the dresses in my room, I noticed none of the dresses were in my price range. I wasn't impressed with the selection I was given either. The employees don't come off as mean or anything, but picking out my dress is a really special, happy time for me, and I would have prefered to to work with someone who would have showed some excitement. My experience wasn't awful, but I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone.
STAY AWAY...FAR AWAY

I should have listened to the advice I had been given by a client of mine that this place is awful. I had to schedule an appt. to even be able to look at gowns...then at the appt, I nor my mother were allowed to look through any of the gowns. They sat us down and asked a ton of questions about my likes/dislikes, and then proceeded to fill the dressing room with dresses for me...which were the furthest thing from what I asked for. I said no v-necks, and I prefer full a-line dresses over form fitting. the first one she had me try on had a v neck practically down to my belly button, and was extremely fitted....it was like she listened to nothing I said?!?!
I was not shown any sale gowns, even though the mailer I received said "$99 sale gowns". Total BS, the cheapest thing I saw was $900, and most were at least $1500. When I asked about the sale gowns, she said they were nothing I would care for. Really, because I think I am the judge of that, but apparently they don't think so. And when she found out I wanted to spend around $1,000 she became completely uninterested and pretty much showed us the door.
Bottom Line... If you have tons of money to spend, you may like this place. But if you are wanting to spend under $1000, and/or would like to work with someone who actually LISTENS to what you have to say... STAY AWAY
- Pros: can't think of any
- Cons: EXPENSIVE, and a bit on the stuffy side
Don't let a whiff of attitude keep you from the great inventory.

The Duds
There's no denying it, Ultimate Bride carries some great gowns. Look for gorgeous things by Christian Dior, Lazarro, Amsale, Richard Glasgow, Scaasi and other top-end designers. Traditional, simple gowns abound, but so do some other, more dramatic looks. The buyers here go for luscious fabrics and some truly exquisite lacework. Call and ask about their trunk show schedule and you could end up meeting the designer of your dress.
The Service
The sales staff do take themselves a bit seriously, it's true, but they are experienced and professional. Don't be intimidated; there are plenty of salespeople interested in helping you find the best dress. But do be on time for your appointment and don't take an entourage, just one or two companions you trust to give you an honest assessment. Follow these basic rules of bridal salon etiquette and you should all get along just fine.
